  1. Thanks for that. I had a look at eth aerials but cant see the tracks. I know the corner tho so will check it out. Thank
  2. Hi Does anyone know the best way to get onto the rock platform around the sea cliff bridge area? Cheers
  3. Hi Planning to give the new 4m inflatable a burl in the lake entrance on the weekend. Ive never had a crack for flathead and am wondering if i could get a few handy hints? Such as time to go, tides, baits and technique to use. I did hear a while back of people using jigs just off the bottom but that might have been off shore. Any help would be great! Thanks!
  4. So potentially September john? Definetly before xmass tho mate.
  5. G'day All rigged up for a big prawn season in the lake. Does anyone have a rough date i should start the hunting season? Anyone heard wheather its going to be a big year? Cheers
  6. Went for a recon last night and saw 2 prawns in total!! Not sure what the go is there. Is it likely to be much different from one day to the next? Just wondering if its still too early in the season yet. Anyone else been recently in the Lake Illawarra? Cheers
  7. Any luck? Im planning to go this friday all being well.
  8. Thanks for the posts guys Was checking out the tides last night and coparing them to the moon phases and there seem to be very few good times this year? Seems that all the full or new moons will ahve a high tide that is edging on towards 11-12ish and by teh time you add an hr for daylight saving and a bit of time for the lake to fill its nearly time to go to work!! Also seems the second tide of the day are much smaller, which i recon isnt as good as less water is rushing and i recon therefore less prawns on the run? Also definetly thought it was essential for teh sun/moon to be bwlow the horizon before getting into it. Correct me if im wrong but this too then limits you considerably when its a good night to go. As for prawn lights never been a fan of the old prawn light, much rather use a head light. this way you have 2 hands free. Secondly the light on your head will cause the prawns eyes to glow like beacons 20 meters depends on how bright the head lamp is, away giving you ample time to scoot in front of the others lined up in front of you and steal the catch!! Having said that i have just brough a 70 odd buck LED prawn light to give it a burl. What ever flots your boat. cant wait to get a good feed.!!
  9. Hi Just wondering when the prawns will start running? Local fish shop said 4 days after a full moon is good, any confirmation for this?? Cheers
  10. Hi jsut wondering what the best method is for attaching a rod to the yak so as to fish while paddling? Also is it better to get a short 5' 2 piece rod or a retractable 6' rod? Cant seem to find a smaller rod? Also taking into acount ill need to fly up to Bris with it. Cheers
  11. I suppose its the passanger ferry, taking kyacks across. Also planning to camp. So if we paddled up the west side and maybe some of the top it should be all good. Whats teh top like in terms of safety and camping? Cheers
  12. Thanks so much for that info! So what areas would be the most desirable areas to paddle in regards to being dropped offfrom the ferry? Sounds like paddling from south to north on the western side should be ok. What is the north end like? And also the eastern side of the island? Also, is there somwhere i could get access to some charts for the area? Cheers
  13. G'day, Im heading up to Morten Island early next month and want to get it clear in my mind what ill be up against in terms of kyacking and also fishing oportunities. So ive got few question. 1. Is it possible to get charts for this area? Would like to know where the channels/drop offs are etc. 2. Does anyone know the workings of the tides here? I have heard they can be quiet full on in the channel areas to the west of the island. 3. Is there any spots that jump out as being a good spot to fish? 4. Is there any spots that cannot be fished? I.E. a senctuary. 5. What is the best set up for trawling. 6. What fish should I expect at this time of the year? 7. Which direction around the island is the preffered way? 8. All being well, how long should it take to circumnavigate Morten Isl? 9. Also plan to do some diving/spearing. Is this advisable? I have heard that there a few sharks up that way. 10. What bait should i take on this trip? Lewers, soft plastics, bait? Any help will be appreciated!! Cheers
