  1. Its my back yard. What the fisheries but caught swimmers and big muddies. Lake opened prior to christmas so there is some flow now but personally haven't targeted them since its been closed. Good luck
  2. I fished the kingy ground off Ulladulla last Friday green water and only two kings about 72-75cm. Both where full to overflowing of 6-7cm squid. The kings are off Bermi but on one day off the next. Pro told me at the ramp!
  3. Great effort, he must have one top fisho for a dad!
  4. Well done boys, our best stands at 333, they are the best fish in the sea, you never know what you are going to get especially at the boat, gaff man must have big b#%@*, top fish!!!
  5. Mega Bass baby griffin-GOLD!!!
  6. Well boxing day dawned very wet, did I mention it was wet. House bound down the coast at the mother in laws with the extended family can only be sustained for so long. I was given a green light so I decided to drag on the waders and jacket and launch the canoe in a little creek that had not been explored before. The target was Bass and the effort to launch the canoe was extremely intense. Once on the water the action started immediately with the first fish 40cm fork on a plastic. Followed by a couple missed fish and then a few more around 35-39cm fork. I then push up the creek dragging the canoe across the rocky rapids and slowly fishing the deep pools. I got smoked in one pool and pulled another few fish from the higher pools with all fish around 38-39 fork and very fat fish. On one rock rapid I had to turn the canoe on its side and empty the water out. Pushed back down to the top end of the first pool where the cicadas where going off so I through my favorite hard body surface lure into a snag and within 3 seconds got smashed and smoked in even less time. I tied another lure on exactly the same and cast it at another snag. Again it hit the water and it exploded in seconds, I was on and landed a PB on a surface lure of 46cm fork. Sadly my time pass ran out and I was forced home but top session in new water.
  7. Fished with my mate Friday night up the local river to a good bite. Caught about 35 fish between the two of us with multiple double hookups. We went us this little dead end creek that we have passed for years, to find that it opened us to some amazing water. We did manage a fish or two up in it but full combat conditions and locked drags where the order. Then just on dusk the surface bite went off with fish smashing anything that hit the water, but it only lasted about 15 minutes. Fish ranged from 25cm to 39cm fork with the average about 35cm and all where in good condition.Tight Lines
  8. Well done boys its a top place, sitting here looking at photos from my many trips. Top sight fishing action and great flats barra. Graham is pretty cool and relaxed and the longies they don't know when to give up, Top trip and great memories.
  9. I here what you are saying about the mullet, I used to shark fish at $1.50kg times 350kg per trip I punched a hell of a lot of money through the pot. The reels are stella I have used shimano since I was in high school some 24 years ago and they are great gear and support/service no problems. The trusted plastics I use mostly are the squidgy bugs and sometimes the gulps of various types(you can see my bag of assorted gulps), but the x factor is the choice sweetener of bass.
  10. Well there are two PBs that most people have on this forum bream and bass. I finally raised the bar on both last weekend, and more stoked then ever with the bass capture. Up the local creek down the coast and second cast with an SX 40lc (after landing a 60 cm flathead on a 4lb leader....very lucky) to have it crunched by a bream,it measured 44cm to the fork, cool. Then later that day in a river no far the first bass was taken on the same lure, but i knew there where more fish there so i went to the trusted plastic and had in nailed. My PB was 42 the same as my bream with my son at 43 and 46 the biggest out of my canoe last season, well it measured 48 to the fork 50 to the tail, not bad for a native river fish. I also caught a mullet, blackfish and EP on that SX lure that day-6 species one day in total. Tight lines!!
  11. The fish are used to floods, the bellingen has had 3 this year. There is a lot of damage to the banks but there is great structure in the river now with all the trees washed in. The fish are a lot different up there then we have encounted elsewhere, what they like in lures, times of day they feed and where they reside. The water is so clear and clean, the timber and scenery is amazing and it is great to fish, but the fish are tough. Floods are good for the rivers and fish.
  12. Last week we where up the coast again with the trusty canoe. We hit the Kalang River first and landed a few Bass and a couple bream. Later that night we hit the jew around structure and landed a couple soapies, but a lot of work for little return. The following day we had a lay day so hit the Bellinger River in the arvo for 12 Bass in two hours, the biggest was Wongas 42cm beast on a plastic. We then loaded the car and moved way down river and hit the Jew again with 18 landed,30+ flatties, tailor and a couple big bust offs not to mention double hookups. A great time was had by all and still no fish where harmed.
  13. The hardest thing was a canoe in the dark in current with wongas up the front saying 'faster, paddle faster its getting away'.
  14. Last Tuesday my college and I headed up the Tweed working and found the waters are still flowing very hard. We did manage to have a fish though. Wongas my mate had a flick that evening while I chased the ZZZZeds. He nailed 3 EPs in a drain on surface poppers. The following afternoon we launched the TF(canoe we call the Turd Fish) and chased Tarpon in a small residential lake/drain system. The barometer had dropped and they didn't play but we landed 3 bream each on hard bodies in about 50 minutes. Due to the State of Origin we went to the local in Kingscliff and watched 25 minutes of s#*t . We where disgusted so went back to the drain. I landed 2 EPs at 37 & 40cm and we both lost another half dozen each and $75 worth of hard bodies.Wongas also landed a couple big bream. The following arvo we headed back down the coast to Coffs for the evening. We decided to launch the TF and chased Jews. The first cast I was nearly spooled before the hook pulled, plus dragged 30m down river. Things settled and we landed 6 jews, wongas his first, heaps of flathead, small Trevally, tailor and a couple floating trees. I also had another hookup and big run only to have the hook pull again, plus wongas lost what we believe was a big,big flatty that snapped his line with a massive head shake after 10 minutes. The road trip ended and Saturday night rolled around with 16 jews pulled out of the Georges, all small soapies, plus a dozen flatties but a good session none the less.
