  1. Can't really help you too much mate, but what I have heard is that lake Mulwala is fishing well at the moment. I think you have to go a fair way downstream from the hume weir as the irrigation flow has cooled the water somewhat and the big beasties dont like it. shane

    Fishing On Dams?

Gday Zoso, depends on the dam you are going to fish on. I am not sure about the ones that you mentioned so you will have to check before hand. Generally the dams that are used for catchment for local water supplies are electric only, or no go zones. shane ps just did a quick google on those dams and Clarrie Hall dam is electric only but couldn't find out much about Rocky Creek.

    Boat Name

Gday guys, I have had my boat for about 3 months now and have been trying to think of a name for her. Well driving along the other day it dawned on me, so I thought I would put it to you guys and see what you think. MASTER-BAITER Shane
  4. Off on my annual pilgrimage to Dartmouth Dam for the Dart Cup fishing comp. leaving lunch time Friday and returning some time Monday. Forecast is for wet conditions, so bring it on. Shane
  5. Sorry to hear about your loss Crunchie, I always try to find a spot to back my trailer in so it is between a couple of cars. Just makes it that little bit harder to get to. shane

    Hay Trip

Grandpop, don't feel so bad about missing the "release" and rise of the river because it hasn't happened. Been checking the bidgee everyday at gundagai for a month on my way to Sydney and it hasn't risen an inch. Think one of the locals may have been trying to increase tourism a bit. Well done on the fishing though. shane
  7. sounds like you had a good time, well done . what lures where you using and were abouts on the lake where you. shane
  8. Gday Granpop, if you launch on the southern side of the lake just head straight out north to the 1st row of trees that run across the middle of the lake. Running north south, troll red and black spinner baits through the snags, we have always picked up fish there. Be prepared to get beached on the odd snag just under the surface because you have to be in there to be amongst the fish. If you want to have a bit of a flick just follow the southern shore line east about a K past the yacht club ramp and you will come to a bay with a heap of reeds and crap in it, just cast large bibbed lures in towards the weed and onto the drop-off and you should pick up a couple there. good luck Shane

    What To Look For

Gday all, I am going through the thought processes now of upgrading my tiny tinny for a more substantial boat. At the moment I am following the progress of a 525 stacer searay with a 70 johno on Ebay. The boat seems to be all I have hoped for and I am thinking about going down to have a look at it. This will mean a 10 round trip, so I am picking you guys brains to know what to look for when I get there. I know the normal wear and tear sort of things to be looking out for and was wondering if anyone has had experience with this type of boat and any known problems. thanks shane
  11. Gday Martin, Talbingo is 40 k south of Tumut, around four and a half hours south of sydney on the hume highway. You have to turn off at Gundagai. shane one of the rainbows pic attached.
  12. I just can't work this place out. I have fished there three times in the past 6 months for the grand total of one fish. Headed up to Talbingo yesterday with my ever faithful fishing buddy Roger and his son for a day of trolling about. I didn't expect to do all that well but was quietly confident that seeing as it wasn't my boat, I could spend a bit more time concentrating on getting down deep above the snags. We were on the water at 8am, started trolling straight away, I was down 5 colours on lead line and picked up a nice 40cm rainbow by 8.30 using Tassie devils. I have been outfished by roger on every occasion that we have been out and was not really ready for what transpired. By 11.30 I had 8 fish in the boat, Roger had 1 and his son was zip. I was starting to get a little embarrassed by my success at this stage so I gave Rogers son my good rod with the lead line and he caught 3 fish in quick succession, which made him happy and made me feel better. The fish went off the bite at 1.30 so we did a little bait fishing to no avail. Grand total for the day was 19 rainbows and 1 brown ranging from 46cm to 30cm. I accounted for 12 of the fish and am still pinching myself, sorry didn't have time for picks. The best session of fishing I have ever had. Shane
  13. I have a sounder in my tinny which I run off one of those battery packs you see in supercheap and other places for jump starting your car. I have just wired the sounder up to a cigarette lighter plug and plug it straight into the pack. They come with there own charger cord for 240 volt, are robust and come in handy when the battery is flat on the car or a young damsil is in distress on the side of the road. I think you can pick the cheap ones up for under $50, work supplies mine so I am not real sure. shane
