  1. Does anyone know of any more infomation about lobsters.Like when is the best time to put a lobster pot out in NSW South Coast and at what depth. What months are best etc? Is there anything I should look out for?
  2. I have a 27meg and I remove it before cleaning the boat. If it is left out in the elements it won't last long as I have found out by experience. All my electricals come out and live in a bag in the cupboard inside the house. I don't believe they are as waterproof as they clam to be. My stereo is mounted with a waterproof case & after the rain you will see moisture inside the cover. Do you plan to fish offshore? Then a vhf is a must as 27meg will only work in line of sight.
  3. Ok, so what I want to know is where does this money go? How much is it for parking, $12 - 14 per day with no hourlly or half day rates? It's a bit steep I think?
  4. Well done Paul, great effort looking forward to your next post
  5. Nice. I hope to do the same tommorow.
  6. While the was checking the Nsw legistion website And the Marine Park Admendments Bill 2007 She found this ATTORNEY GENERAL MINISTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT MINISTER FOR THE ARTS NEW SOUTH WALES NEWS RELEASE Batemans Marine Park Zoning Plan 13 December 2006 “It is important to note that these changes come into affect in six months from now, and there will be no restrictions whatsoever on fishing in the area this summer. The plan itself will be reviewed in 5 years.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Marine Parks Amendment Bill 2007 zoning plans will be reviewed initially five years after commencement, and then every ten years; (4) Section 17C (2)–(6) apply to the making of an amendment to the zoning plan for a marine park in the same way as they apply to the making of a zoning plan under that section unless the relevant Ministers are of the opinion that: (a) the amendment is to be made as a consequence of any event referred to in subsection (2) (a)–©, or B the proposed amendment is of a minor nature. So they have not taken any notice of the fact that we were led to believe that there would be no changes to the marine park for 5 years. I do remember seeing this in writing but have been unable to track it down, as they conveniently wipe all past documentation from the mpa website. And now they have implemented a system that not only allows them to make changes but ensures that those changes are very rarely reviewed to ensure their practicality. Who decides which amendments are minor and which ones are significant? If the pollies can make amendments to the zoning without consultation then the system is open to abuse whereby ministers can make “minor” changes to the zoning without any viable reason, just to sway party votes in other issues. There is no accountability. (2) Despite subsection (1), the Authority is not required to review the operational plan for a marine park under that subsection after the amendment of the zoning plan for the marine park if the Authority is of the opinion that the amendment is minor in nature. The mpa does not even have to and I am sure would be discouraged from, reviewing any amendments that are “minor”. May I ask a stupid question? Who works for who? Do we work for the government OR do they work for us. The tables are turning far to much to the former in all aspects of our government. I say we should stop paying them, if only we could.
  7. There are good points to having a marine park but not many. Like taking the dozen nets out of the Clyde river but then they gave out purmits for traps, WTF ? It was also good to see the removal of the prawn trallers along Long Beach. Hopefuly fish will come back to these underwater deserts that the trallers have created, not likley? What good is it have a no take zone west of tolgates, this was a great place to get out of the wind and swell. No great grounds there, just safe fishing. Why did they ask every one where they like to fish? Answer to take it away from you as the Greens dont want to see the the fish with a hook in its mouth ( I bet they eat fish bought from suppermarkets that are undersize) And while I'm on size limits, why is it a kingy has to be over 65cm when that large a fish can have millions of fry and it is definitely to big to feed one person. What about a min of one under this size? How can they double the fine when the markings for them are poor and hard to see and there picture on the maps are different to the longs and lats supplied ? What about the poles they were to erect to see if you were in or out of the zone. I see people all the time fishing in no take zones and taking under sized fish but no one is there to police it. I can only hope that fishing in this area will improve over time if there is some resonable fishing grounds to fish in. Keep up the good work Bayrunner
  8. I'm not familiar with your area but I have used other charters and had a great time and learnt some new tricks. The leasson I have learnt is to pay cash on the DAY so that if things turn pear shaped you can at least get a cash refund

Hi all. I thought I would introduce myself. My name is John. I live in Batemans Bay. I own a 5.3 polycraft. I fish the river when I can't get outside or taking the family. Otherwise I'm outside chasing Snapper, Kingfish etc.
