  1. Hey Pete, Top report, my bother has been itching to get out with me but i just haven't had the time... After reading your report it felt like i was in the boat with you guys...Will have to start making time. Glad to see you guys got on to some decent kingies... How did they go down??? Have never eaten them myself and are still waiting for the day i catch one... Jas
  2. Hey Pete, Glad to see the old table full again mate... Well done... Jas
  3. Hey BillyD, What a corker of a story... Good luck mate, hope there are many more occasions for both of you. Last time i took out my daughter, she run out of food and drink within 2 hours and we were heading back in... Jas
  4. No Way, as Ritchie would say "what a catch" Would love to head down there one day and have a crack at them myself. Might organise a charter out of Cronulla... Have a 5.6mtr quintrex with an oldish 90 on the back... It would probably take a bit to get down there out of port hacking depending on weather.... Regards Jas
  5. Hey Peter, Have been eagerly awaiting one of your detailed reports with photos.Glad to hear you managed to get back out in the water... You have some nice flathead's there, here's hoping we have a cracker of a summer. Jas
  6. Hi Groper, Awesome catch....Cant beat those flatty fillets. Just wondering if you could let me know of the rig that would catch those massive squid??? Do you use squid jigs or some other type of bait and hook?? Cheers Jas
  7. Hey A.dawg, Thanks for the tip with the squid, i will give it a go off Jibbon beach next time i am out there... Had a look on google earth and it looks like there there is some healthy weed beds over there. Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on jigging for king fish... Jas
  8. Hi fellow Raiders, After reading some recent reports i am keen to get out and catch some nice size squid and jig for some Kingfish. My boat can handle outside conditions. I have tried the yamashita squid jigs in the weed beds near the big white house on the left hand side (bass and flinders point)when heading to bate bay but never seem to have much luck. Any tips for catching some nice squid for a salt and pepper feast would be appreciated. Do the squid jigs holding a whole pilchard work better? As for jigging for kingfish, are there any spots worth trying? Not too keen fishing too close to the bombie for obvious reasons. Do the kingfish only hang around reef like structure or can they be caught off the flathead grounds outside? Have tried trolling with various Rapala and Halco lures catching salmon, bonito's and stripeys but no kingfish to date. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jas
  9. Hi Pete, I was so hoping to find one of your reports after the weekend. Man am i keen to get out there now!!! Weather, work and the missus permitting i am going to aim for Friday. I really want a nice feed of flatties for dinner that night. (Friday night footy, cold beer and flatty fillets for dinner) What type of bait did you find to work best? Top report as usual. Jas
  10. Hi Pete, Top catch there mate. You have certainly got me pumped up for a feed of flatties that's for sure...Absolutely love them.... Do you mind if i ask what depth you were fishing as it sounds like the jackets might be disappearing. Did you have a crack at using plastics? Keep the reports coming Jas
  11. Hi Pete, Thanks for the advice..I will give it a go... I have been reading your reports of late with interest and seems that you have been having some success. Looks like you blokes have a really good time out on the water. I also fish out of the hacking and off Cronulla but have never ventured down to the hump but would like to. I have a quintrex bayraider 560 with an oldish 90 evinrude on the back. I was just wondering how long it might take to get down there? approx amount of fuel used? when you arrived and anchored what depth were you anchored in? I was also thinking it might be easier to just drive down the coast and put the boat in at on one of the local ramps???? I am really keen to have a crack at some snapper in the coming months.... Keep the reports coming as i really enjoy reading them. Regards Jas
  12. Hi Raiders, Last weekend we managed to get on to some striped tunas just off Cronulla trolling with lures. I was wanting to head out again soon and catch some for bait which i plan to use Nov/Dec. Can some please advise the best way to store the fish until the end of the year. Can i simply just freeze them or do they need to be prepared some way? Thanks for your help. Jas
  13. Hi Fishraiders, just wondering what people may have been catching of late just outside of part hacking down to Garie? Hoping to get out on the weekend and wasn't sure if the sand flathead are still around? Was going to give the soft plastics a go as i have never tried these outside. Good luck to those heading out for a fish this weekend. Jas
  14. Hey Keflapod, Thanks for the report. It was very funny, found myself in a similar position for a while on Sunday minus the rain. Jas
  15. Hi Fellow Raiders, Have just started fishing outside (Out of Port Hacking up to 5 klm from land) and i noticed today around 9am some brown birds working on top of the water heading north. Whilst there was no fish busting the surface the birds seemed to be following them anyway. I said to my mate to keep an eye on the sounder and sure enough a dark cloud come over the screen which lasted for 3 mins or so. I wanted to drop a lure but wasn't rigged and ready to go. Was thinking i would like to purchase a specific rod/reel/lure so should the same thing happen again i can quickly have some fun without having to change rigs. Would appreciate if you could let me know what type of birds we saw today? Any idea of what the fish may have been? And lastly any recomendations for an alround lure that i can have rigged up ready to go should the same thing happen again. Cheers Jas
