  1. Hi guys, Can anyone tell me how much it costs to store the boat at neals, and is there any chance they can tow the boat down to the ramp for me?? Basically the boat i am looking at is too big for my car, a astra and i need a place to store it. I am not interested in akuna bay if they had a spot which i doubt they do. The boat is a 15ft carribean if they charge by length Thanks Aaron
  2. i tried off lizard island. The main problem was the fish where scared of you so only the tiddlers was take the bait Aaron
  3. Hi guys, I picked up a red ambasedeur 5000d at the markets in port macquarie a few months back with a rod for $30. It works pretty well but the drag seems to catch a bit. Is it hard to pull them apart, I can imagine tiny springs flying all over the kitchen or should i get it repaired. If i go the repair option does anyone know where I could take it?? Im in strathfield, sydney Cheers Aaron
  4. I will tack on my clifton gardens fishing report to this one, hope you don't mind. Headed down arriving around 4pm friday arvo, there where about 10 guys down there. My plan was to go for tailor, so tied on a set of 4 ganged hooks and shortly thereafter a pillie was sailing through the air. It was pretty quiet until around 5, then i had a good hit and a good tailor was on . Unfortunately it pulled the hooks just near the wharf. I changed rigs to a float and put on a fresh pillie. Hurled it out but must have launched it too hard as the float and pillie parted with the line hmmmm. 5 mins later i was back to the old rig, just a 4 ganged hook set unweighted. As i was tying it on i saw my float rig dissapear below the surface and then it resurfaced. Damn. Through out a pillie right near the float and instantly i got slammed by something really big. Unfortunately i didn't set the hook. Things quietened down for about 1/2 an hour and then zzzz i was on. I landed a tailor to 45cm. I kept at it till 8pm had a few more touches but no hook ups. Aaron
  5. Hi guys, i was watching rex hunt the other day on foxtel and a question came up. When i fish i usually try really hard to present the bait naturally, hiding the hook in the fish or prawn etc. This is for bream flathead trevs etc. However i have seen many times these guys getting their fish say a slimy mac and whacking a couple of big hooks in the fish. The hooks are visible. Then they drop it over the side and a big snapper or whatever shortly comes up hooked. I would have thought that the bigger the fish the smarter it is, obviously it has avoided being caught previously so why now do they commit suicide and eat a obviously hook laden bait. The only thing i can think of is these fish haven't come across man before, unlike the bream we get in the rivers of sydney which may have come into contact with many many times. Whats your thoughts?? Aaron
  6. Hi, went fishing landbased on friday, first off headed down to the rocks on the tip of middle harbour, arriving around 7am tried fresh australian king peeled for no luck. Tried cunje and again no luck. Lots of pickers, as soon as the bait hit the water they attacked it but somehow they always evaded me. Pulled the pin at 10 and headed over to old faithful clifton gardens. Fished more peeled kings for a bream to 26cm. There were two huge ludericks hanging around the pylons, unfortunately i couldn't tempt them as i had no weed. Maybe better luck next time Aaron
  7. Hi fishless, my tips for clifton gardens, okay high tide is at 10:14 so a morning fish should be productive. Fish with as little lead as possible. I usually get by with either no lead or just a small ball sinker. Drop a line straight down off the left hand side at the end near the stairs. I have pulled up heaps of leatheries from there. Try a peeled king prawn, make sure is australian in origin and cast that straight out as far as you can from the end of the wharf. again use as little lead as possible. There is a drop off a little way off the end of the wharf a good cast will put the bait out in the deeper water. I have also put in heaps of burley and dropped the line just off the right corner of the wharf for trevs. unfortunately i will be at work so cant join you Good luck Aaron
  8. Hi guys, I have heard about the prawns before, i usually get crystal bay or something river prawns. It is hard though sometimes when they dont know where they are from. Aaron
  9. Headed down to clifton gardens yesterday afternoon arriving around 3pm. It was pretty quiet at first, all i pulled in was a big puffer fish. For the next hour or so there were a few nibbbles on the line but nothing to show for it. Then the bite seemed to go off, and wandered if there was something bigger around to scare them off. Just after 5 as it was getting dark and i threw yet another peeled king prawn out. Straight away i had a big bite and the hook was bitten off the 8lb vanish line. Bugger i thought as i tied on another hook and peeled another prawn. Cast it out and again same thing bitten off. I thought it had to be tailor. Tied on a wire trace and cast out again and bang onto a good sized taylor. Unfortunately that one got away just as i got it to the wharf. 4th time lucky i landed a good size tailor. The guy beside me michael started hurling out river 2 sea minnows and withing 5 minutes had pulled in 3 good size tailor. By now i had run out of prawns so tried some squid but i didn't get any bites within a minute so tried spinning a halco metal lure. No bites after 5 minutes unfortunately. Went to try another lure but by then it was too dark to see the line to tie the lure on, oh well. It sure was fun while it lasted. Question I have always used uncooked prawns, has anyone had success with cooked prawns i could have got some at a better(smaller) size cheaper but tey were cooked?? Aaron
  10. Hi guys, i was watching a doco on the breat barrier reef the other night and they mentioned how all the predators come onto the reef at night. Does that also occur with rock fishing?? I have heard some reports that dawn and dusk are better but not night and not in the middle of the day. Whats your thoughts?? Aaron
  11. Hi guys, i am a bit confused with regards to the water clarity when it comes to lures. In a lot of the posts about soft plastics i read that you can see the fish below the boats etc. In other info i read that the fish become very wary and hard to catch in clear water. (most of those reports pertained to bait fishing) So how much difference does it make?? I have always assumed if the fish can see the bait/lure you have a better chance of catching it?? Cheers Aaron
  12. Thanks guys, I went out today all i got was one chopper tailor. the guy beside me at the mouth of the cooks river got a nice australian salmon lucky guy, on sp's. I have penciled in next monday at the rowers, i will be there about 6:30 so leave some fish for me. I drive a silver astra and am looking forward to learning a thing or two Aaron
  13. Hi guys, went out for a few hours today and tried both hb's and sp's for absolutely nothing, all land based First i tried from the bank of the lane cove river about 200m down river from the steakhouse which is located beside new delhi road. There was a lovely little mud bank i was standing on, i used rmg scorpion no 52 and a little attack pink with black spots lure. Nothing no bites. I was there for about 1 hour. Then off to fig tree bridge, i was on the north side i tried around to the left where the water seems deeper. Where do you guys usually fish here north or south side?? I was here for about 1/2 hour Then the rain came down so headed over to uts rowers. Tried all along the bank over to the footbridge, then over the other side continued right up to the wharf. Nothing Then over to birkenhead point, i found a nice spot right on the spot, just to the right of the rowing club. again fished about 1/2 hour before the rain got me again. Then off to ottos to get some sx40's but they were sold out. Apparently someone has put out the word that their a great lure and everyones buying them Anyway i am going to head over to clifton gardens tomorrow then maybe the spit. Aaron
  14. Thanks guys, okay you guys got me thinking, the model available at campbells is the pc-601spl, i found the silstar distributors website, www.freehand.com.au and it seems that model is known as the crystal powertip series. There is also the crystal blue powertip, the powertrip series and finally the diamond powertrip series?? I have no idea which series I was quoted on so will have to check it out. However it seems legit?? I wonder if the crystal powertip is obselete perhaps?? Aaron
