  1. Also locations I have in mind would be sydney wharfs and perhaps off the beach? Although 8ft might be too short for beach. Based in sydney but happy to travel. Shinobu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hi all, Looking to try my luck outside of the normal bread and butter fish. Having trouble working out what combo to get to target jewfish. From what I gather... 10kg rod, 8?ft with a 4000 size reel? I'd rather not spend north of $200 if possible. Please let me know if I'm on the right track and perhaps models to consider etc? Line 40pound mono? Also does anyone have any jewie spots to pm me? I also worked out live bait will be the go. To have the best chance possible. Thanks in advance, Shinobu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks for all the kind words guys, I'm sure they will get what is coming to them.. Fishingphase your offer is too kind, if you're willing to let it go I'm happy to pay a fair price for it. I'll PM you. The rod was a 10' beach combo from bcf, from memory it was only $150 but it's not the money which bothers me.. Cheers, Shinobu
  4. So after 3 months of no fishing, finally got out to Garie beach today. No fish but I'm not complaining because the weather was beautiful. Now when I got home I placed my beach rod against the car (on the side of the road) and went across the road to give my mate his wallet and a 4wd pulled up beside my car, I hear a door open and close, and when I cross back over the road my rod is gone and so is the 4wd! Now I know I shouldn't have just had my rod there, but really I only had the rod out for 1 minute!! Sorry this is not a fishing report but more of a rant, what kind of place do we live in where we cannot turn our back for 1 second! Rant over. Shinobu
  5. Hi raiders, Just started a new job in parramatta and was wondering if there are any places around there to wet a softplastic or two before or after work? Have myself some time in the mornings because I get in a little earlier to miss the traffic. Any suggestions? Cheers,
  6. Thanks for the replies guys, A 1/0 hook does seem big for Sydney Whiting, and funnily enough my mate who reccomended it to me is from Vic, so go figure. Still might not be too bad to see if the bream and other species like them, might have to get some sent from Vic as they seem more available down there. Cheers, Shinobu
  7. Hi there, Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the kl 1/0 hooks on this rig and how effective it is? Also any stores around Sydney that stock this rig? Thanks, Shinobu
  8. Called Purefishing - apparently they have been discontinued for quite a while and as far as they are concerned there is no more stock!! Really am kicking myself for not picking up one earlier.. If anyone happens to come across one please let me know!
  9. Thanks for the replies guys, kingfisher I have seen the 2 piece at amazonoutdoors a couple of months ago but regretfully didn't pick one at the time, now they don't stock them anymore. Fezza thanks for the tip, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. Hopefully they have them and I'll pick up one for myself and kingfisher!! Cheers again, Austin.
  10. Hi guys, Have been looking for a while to track down a Trion Tournament 2 piece, and was told a couple of days ago by a mate that they look like discontinuing this particular rod. Any chance that a forum member can help me track one down?? Cheers, Shinobu ( Austin )
  11. Thanks for the words of encouragement! Yes i do believe I have the bug.. i even went back again last night for 30mins and added a 30cm flatty to the tally! This lure is AMAZING! Hope this streak continues for me, haven't caught fish like these for ages.! esp in my local area! Shinobu ( Austin )
  12. Hi Raiders, After a 8-8 marathon at work today, decided to go for a quick flick with the new Ecogear zx30 i got over the weekend. Stopped by the rowing club at Dobroyd Point and was playing around with my retrievals, when all of a sudden BLAM!! My lure gets smashed and my new Stradic c14 started to SCREAMM!!! Couldn't believe how much power this fish had! after a couple of minutes it turns out to be a ripper of a whiting at 41cm! Unfortunately no pics as it was really dark and my phone camera has no flash - but the fish was happily returned back to the water. All in all very pleased with my first $20 lure ( worth every penny ) and considering I could only manage whiting up to 30cm with live nippers over the weekend, I am a very happy man at the moment.! Spent about an hour all up fishing, couple of small hits but no other fish. Also would like to say my new setup ( recommended by the fishraider memberes ) is awesome! Stradic C14 2500, Pflugger president 2 piece and some 6lb fireline and 8lb vanish leader is dynamite! Hope to get out there again soon! Shinobu ( Austin )
  13. Just to let everyone know, my mrs can't make it, but my younger brother has agreed to accompany me!! Only a couple more hours to go!! See ya all there! Shinobu ( Austin )
  14. Hi Guys, Put me down on the list + 1 ( the missus is coming too )! 1st time at a social! Unfortunately don't have a boat, also is it bait or lure fishing..? I know dont post too much, but I do hope to see everyone there! Cheers, Shinobu ( Austin )
  15. Thanks for the tips guys, I did make a stop by my local tackle store yesterday and put both the stradic c14 1000 and 2500 on the trion, i think the 2500 does feel more balanced, something that i could keep casting all day. While the 1000 felt top heavy. Kingys & prawnstar thanks for the line input, i did pick up some 6lb berkley fireline in pink ( the Mrs said it was pink or nothing ). Once I get my reel and start putting on the line i think i might be back here asking for advice again . Also, mono for the backing and fluro-carbon for the leader? is there much difference between the two? For example if i was to use flurocarbon for the backing and leader, will that cause any problems? Although i think i ran into a bigger problem, the Mrs wants a new rod too! So.. unless i want to wake up to this every morning, it looks like i need 2 new rods.. Such is life Shinobu
