Thanks beeefaman, Do you guys get any sharks off the beaches in mackay?

The gungahlin lakes are awesome for redfin and the odd yellowbelly, as are the other canberra lakes if you put the effort in. The rivers running into the canberra lakes and dams are also excellent. Over the summer i had had some great fun catching murray cod and golden perch in the murrumbidgee and molonglo rivers on small divers. These spots were much more productive than googong, burrinjuck or burley griffin. The highlight of the summer for me was a 4.2 kg cod caught on corn believe it or not while trying to rid the molonglo of a few carp.

Hi, I will be visiting Mackay in north queensland next week and i am just wondering if anyone has any tips for me on where and how to catch a few fish? I fish the NSW south coast and have never been up north, and would like to possibly get into a few trevally, mackeral and alike. I will not have that much free time and will only have a light telescopic rod with a small thredline reel as i dont want to be taking a bunch of rods on the plane. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. - Gibbo
