  1. had a good day out on tuesday fishing broken bay.i drifted with freshly caught yakkas filleted and skinned and cut into long strips.i caught very little until the breeze picked up.managed to bag 7 flatties and six flounder. am curious as to anyone else who has fished the area lately as i must have caught 15 flounder of various sizes but most legal.have fished this area for a lot of years and have never seen so many flounder in the bay.the water was 24 degrees and like a bath. have already eaten the flounder and cant wait to taste a few more as they really are a sweet tasting fish.will go again this weekend and hope to find them chewing again.
  2. i fished south side rocks past flathead beach
  3. the mornings in spring are just great arnt they.had a morning on the stones at pearl beach this morning 19/9/08 and it was warm and the water is also warming up.fished the run up to high tide which is not my favoured tide but it would not matter if i caught jack as it was great just being outdoors. managed to get three nice fish with the biggest going 2.2kg cleaned.got the weekend off so i will venture out again and give em some tommorrow and sunday.all fish were caught on peeled banana prawns with a little bit of cabbage hanging off the bottom of the hook. cheers jacksea.
  4. no not at all,i like a little bit of surge or backwash but have actually caught my best fish with very light seas as i like to fish right under my feet so to speak.this also aids you to fish as light as possible as drummer like to scoot out midwater and hammer the bait and try to get back into their holes or caves.i also like to keep as dry as i can especially in winter. i fish the lightest ball sinker possible right onto hook i am now the owner of a few boxes of that exact hook.i was using the mustard 540's in 1/0 which are ok if you can swim them up.but this spot is a lift out spot and so 540's are to light guage. cant wait till friday to lift out the bigger ones(i am praying)
  5. yeh should have read wake up not look up #$@^head i am
  6. i bake them whole with the scales left on which keeps the flesh moist.although i am not in the good books as juices have overflowed into oven. no sense of humour these frontbums! as far as thursday goes good luck, will go again wednesday as is overcast and nil wind "apparently"
  7. have been shown website called seabreeze.com and found to be very good and very accurate. go onto site and click on graphs and area where you live to find updated forecasts on wind, wave sizes in hourly intervals .it has been really accurate for me as far as wind and swell for fishing the rocks.
  8. had a nice morning on the stones at pearl beach on the central coast.fished early with peeled prawns for pigs while my mate tried for his bream. i managed 4 drummer to 1.3kg whilst my offsider managed three bream and a lone drummer. we fished low tide ,run up which i dont prefer but we did manage a few.i will fish the high down in the next few days. as i said the morning started slow with our spot catching a bit of swell which made things harder.as the tide came up i noticed our bread berley was creating a bit of interest out a little wider so next cast i sent one out to the edge of the stir and it was smashed instantly and we had our first drummer on the rocks. over the next hour i managed 4 drummer and dropped some very good fish, with i hate to say by straightening hooks (doh!)even though i lost these fish the short time i had them on more than sattisfies you and gets the blood flowing. anyway have attatched best two fish as hungry neighbour took other two before i could manage to get camera out!(i might keep some nice wirrah for him next time) :

  13. thanks braidbuster ,i will keep that in mind
  14. we fished eleanora bluff and then gave juno a quick go on way back to patonga ramp. as i said i couldn't believe how quiet it was.no boats, great bait, great berley but no quality fish.we did get scores of undersize fish.
  15. we had a go in the hawksbury friday night 30th. bait we had was, blood worms, green nippers, pink nippers and salted oysters.we fished the shore ,run out tide with the best baits and best berley(pellets soaked in oyster shelled water),no moon. two bream and a school jew of 58cm. couldn't believe it!a lot of undersize bream and the phosphorous in the water was unbelievable. maybe had something to do with it?
