  1. remember that reducing wheel size by 2 inches only reduces trailer height by 1 inch, you may have to look at other avenues to lower the boat height- maybe moving the axle to above the springs and/ or tinkering with the roller heights, maybe reducing spring size
  2. In my experience NRMA has been the best. Cheapest premiums and very good service when it is most important- when you have to make a claim. A mate of mine had his houseboat 3 weeks when it was capsized on a mooring during wild weather- they paid the claim no problem, including the cleanup of the wreckage that was spread along the shore. ( total payout, over 30k). 2 years ago, I hit a log at high speed causing $18000 worth of damage and NRMA had an assessor on the spot within 3 days and the repairs started within 4 days. Do some research , particularly on claims history- that's when you need them
  3. you could just get it soda blasted, will come up like new, giving a clean canvas to work with I looked in the yellow pages and found this mob fairly quickly http://www.yellowpages.com.au/onlineSoluti...roductId=215516 ps I have no connection with this business
  4. i just nosed the boat to the waters edge and lowered the motor until the skeg is in the sand (not running of course)- doesnt go anywhere
  5. This should fix the problem.... $3 plus sealant (sikaflex) http://www.biasboating.com.au/p-954-nylon-...iner-scoop.aspx
  6. was it running okay when you got it?- as mentioned, try new fuel at correct ratio 50:1 with proper outboard TCW-3 oil and make sure the plugs are correct for the engine- (internet or local friendly boatshop) regards wayne
  7. how about baking up a bunch of marinated chicken legs the night before then wrap in foil- no waste and can eat with pilly fingers..
  8. Pelican is on the money, take your clears to a marine trimmer and get him to sow on some clear flaps over the outside of the zips- very common in larger boats. I am a bit surprised whoever made up the clears didnt do this origionally. I understand there are new waterproofed zippers available now with stepped teeth, but are very expensive.

Hi all, first time poster I have ordered a couple of units from Huey's- I thought I would let you know how important I think they are offshore, even you are not required by law to carry them. Get a basic one if nothing else, though I think it's worth the extra 200 dollars for the GPS enabled model. With the basic model the SAR satellites triangulate your position from the transmission alone, hence the 5km accuracy. The GPS model not only alerts the satellites with who you are, but also transmits a Lat & Lon position, hence the 50m accuracy. Scenario: dead short on the battery next to the fuel line, and a big fire at the Norah Canyons. everyone is overboard pretty quickly with jackets on as there is no liferaft. You are floating around amongst the burly ( you were chasing Mako's) and the Newcastle Water Police are alerted by the SAR centre in Victoria. 3hrs later, do you want them swanning around in a 5km X 5km area (25 square Kilometres) looking for you, or do they punch the latest lat and lon transmitted to them (continuously updated ) into the autopilot and you see them come up over the horizon. I would rather have to worry about them running me over than try to get their attn 4km away! Also, any boats in the area can be directed to the exact updated position by CoastGuard. I don't think you can overdramatize this sort of stuff cheers B&B PS I won't be throwing my old one away, there are no plans for aircraft to stop monitoring 121.5mhz anytime soon- just the satelites will not listen to that frequency
