  1. Well done... I was up there a few weeks ago... and it was completely the wrong tide, moon phase and we still ended up with a nice feed.
  2. Left Brooklyn at 6am this morning and headed out to west head to get some live bait but no joy.... headed in further near flint and steel but no live bait anywhere.... decided to give it a miss and headed out to to sea approx 1km off the tip of box head using some cut bait bought from store and managed to catch a a decent flat head..... then head over to Barrenjoey head and got lots of flatheads but all undersize... as we drifted back towards the mouth of Hawkesbury we managed to pickup a few big slimies and with no luck out to sea we decided to try Juno point and managed to pick up a few decent flathead on the drift..... then finnaly we struck gold with a nice jewy off one of the slimy mackerels filleted Juno point... not a bad end to the day!
  3. Hi Raiders, I caught this fish off the beach near Lake Tabourie. I let it go but was curious as to what type of fish it was? Fishing for years but never come across one. Reggae
  4. Hi All, Not sure how everyone is getting on, but based on the number of reports in Sydney harbour things are really quiet.. Thought I would share my experience over the last 2 weekends. Live bait - have tried north harbour, balmoral island, and round building near little manly - no yakkas, no sweep, no squid. When using bread to attract them there is almost no life whatsoever. Fishing - best success has been in North Harbour... Flathead and flounders (lots of small reds as well but undersize) Best drifting between the boats. Had more success during the mornings than at night using squid strips over pillies. Everything goes quiet after 9ish. No success at any markers in the harbour. Obelisk beach has plenty of pike for some unknown reason (catching on soft plastics). The spit is very dead. The only spot I have had any success other than north harbour was seaforth bluff for a few reds. Pickering point, sugar loaf bay, beauty point all very quiet. Hope this helps you guys
  5. Hi raiders, Heading over to treasure island in Fiji for a few days at the end of this month for a break with the family. Anyone know if there are fishing options on the island or good charters available? The website info is limited. Last time I went to Fiji at plantation island one of the staff gave me a handline to fish off the beach at night with him. He worked at the resort, but his family was from the village on the island next door. Each night he fished for food for the village and was happy for me to join he.. If treasure island is similar I'll probably bring over a heap of extra hooks / line and leave it with them to give them a boost Reggae
  6. Dropped the boat in at patonga this morning and headed out to flint and steel with a mate... After many drifts across the reef we finally managed to catch what had been picking off our baits for over and hour... a nice leather jacket. Not being really set up for these we decided to keep drifting further up the Hawkesbury. There was a fair bit of bird action and a few bait bubbles but we didn't have slicers so just threw out some pillies and managed to hook a tailor. There is plenty there at the moment because we managed to catch another 3 in under an hour. After the wind picked up a bit we decided to drift the rocks on the flint and steel side and managed to catch a few flatties. A pretty good day out on the water so we are going to have another crack tomorrow... This time armed with a few slicers. Reggae

    Tinny repair

Hi Raiders Unfortunately a car crashed into my tinny last week and I need to get a few dents in the hull fixed. Question I have is where do I take it? Panel beater or a boat place? Trailer also has a bent axel so can't really tow it at the moment either. I'm on the Northern beaches so would be good to find someone that can do it all. Greg
  8. Thanks. I removed the prop and double checked it was all clear.
  9. Hi Raiders, Was out in the boat today and a bit of rope got caught around the prop causing my engine to stall. I removed it and drove it back to the boat ramp and it seemed ok, but still worried that I might have done some damage due to it suddenly stalling. If it started ok should I not worry about getting it checked out. Not sure how tolerant outboards are to rope being stuck and their props. It's a 25 Yamaha.
  10. Hi All, Heading down to Culburra beach this weekend with the kids and was wondering if anyone had any good spots to drop a line in. I'm not familiar with the area so any tips on locatiosn would be much appreciated. I'm landbased but happy to try beach or estuary. Thanks in advance Reggae
  11. Oil is black... really black. It leaked out of the prop area. Once it leaked a cup of oil that was it. I did fill it up so may have put in a little bit too much oil.
  12. Looking for some advice. .. I took my boat out last night and when i went to flush the motor this morning I noticed about a cup of oil had leaked from the bottom of the motor. Is this normal? It operates fine but having had the motor for over 5 years this is the first time this has happened so not sure
  13. Hi All, Just thought I would share a report on fishing in the harbour yesterday. After dropping in at Roseville, I headed around to Balmoral island for some live bait. Squid were not to be found and the Yakka’s were extremely timid despite being in abundance. Had to get really close to the weed beds before they would actually start biting. After finally catching a few I headed around to Middle head, Obelisk Bay and it was pretty quiet (tried live yakka’s, pillies and cut squid). Picked up a few snapper but no keepers. I ended up heading over to Rose bay to see if the other side of the harbour was any better, but that was pretty quiet too (just small snapper) After the wind started to pick up I decided to head back to the Spit (stopping off at Chinaman’s beach to throw some soft plastics) but again all pretty quiet. Eventually ended up working soft plastics all the way around the shoreline from the Manly Spit bridge to Crag cove and managed to pick up some small snapper and some bream which all went back. After calling it a day… I decided to troll some metal slicer back to the boat ramp at Roseville and ended up picking up a tailor and slimy mackerel (both released). It was pretty quiet in terms of big fish but plenty of little snapper around. Still had a good day and few laughs on the water. Reggae.
