  1. Congrats on a good fish off the rocks mate. I'm guessing that could be your Bluefin frame on " The Nail " at the ramp. I heard they"d turned up. Well done.
  2. Your fillets look pretty good to me mate, but a keen blackfishing mate of mine reckons they're heaps better skinned as well. Well done on the fishing Sidecaster...........
  3. Glad to see there is still a few of us late night, winter time Jew chasing lunatics around mate. All the best with it Sidecaster........
  4. Gday mate, Squid caught straight off the rocks over a weed bed not far from Norah Head.
  5. Gday all, Just wanted to share this poem I found in a fishing mag. It was written by Tami Tonges from QLD for her sick grandfather, a keen fisho. I reckon its fantastic. THIS NIGHT. This night Im alone in the crisp winter air The waves are around me, the salt in my hair I sit on the headland with hardly a sound But the transistor radio in the backround This night there is no-one, only myself To sit in the darkness and take in the smells I hold the rod firmly and wait for a sign Of a whole other life in the sea near my line This night nature calls me out on these rocks To sit amongst beauty in my favourite spot And then comes the rush from deep down inside That only a fisherman knows of this ride This night I am fighting an almighty fight With a warrior fish that is cunning and bright It shows no forgiveness as it heads out to sea And I am left wondering will I win or he This night while Im fighting my muscles now burning The warrior fish begins tiring and turning And finally now as it reaches the shore I sit and ponder completely in awe This night spent with nature is easy to see That all that's around us is full of beauty From the salt drenched aroma of winter sea air To the beautiful fish I have caught laying there This night I dared to dream the dream That many have fought but not all have seen The warrior fish in the dark of the night Is a completely spectacular sight This night in the moonlight the warrior fish Gleaming with silver has answered my wish And as I head home I climb the last boulder With a fifty pound jewie slung over my shoulder. Happy fishing.........
  6. Gday raiders , Went down and hit the rocks on wednesday arvo to take advantage of the calm conditions for a bit of a jig for some squiddlies. My mate and I got 3 nice sized green eyed squid with the biggest measuring 700mm (overall) . Got down there around 5.00pm and fished til about 8.00pm with all 3 squid caught just after dark on orange coloured jigs. Decided to take wednesdays squid down the beach last night for a jew session. Fished from 5 til midnight, with 6 rods in the water between us for most of the night and only 1 salmon caught. The wintery water has definately slowed the fishing down at our local beaches, but you dont catch fish sitting on the lounge thinking about it. I will try to attach squid photos. cheers..........
  7. Gday mate, The Jew was caught off the beach at North Entrance. I use a two 8/0 hook rig on about 1 metre of 60pd leader with a running star sinker (size to suit conditions). We always take fresh Hawkesbury squid and then what ever else tickles our fancy. When the mullet are running, fresh strips are gun bait. A couple of tips ; find yourself a beach with a good deep gutter, research your beach in daylight hours, work out where the rips and sandbars are, have a back up plan in mind in case you get there and the current is rippin your bait up the beach and get the missus a gym membership so she cant whinge when you tell her your going fishing again. We seriously hit any one of many beaches every weekend without fail. If you want to land decent fish, you've gotta spend the time going for it. We fish just about all night. You mustn't go home because the tides getting low. A mate of mine got a 5ft Bronse whaler on dead low tide just recently. One of the boys often says : " For every night you go home without one, Your just one step closer to takeing home a pisser ". All the best with it sidecaster............
  8. Here we go again, gee I hope this works. For some reason my attachments are too large to send. Just a dopey chippy here trying to get technical. This Jew was caught mid June off the beach on the run out tide, with very little moonlight on 30 pound line. It went near on 10 kg. There have been others including thumper Tailor but this Jew the largest so far for me this winter. Like I say, I hope this works cause I just polished a six pack of the good stuff trying to sort it out..... cheers.
