Gday mate,
The Jew was caught off the beach at North Entrance. I use a two 8/0 hook rig on about 1 metre of 60pd leader with a running star sinker (size to suit conditions). We always take fresh Hawkesbury squid and then what ever else tickles our fancy. When the mullet are running, fresh strips are gun bait.
A couple of tips ; find yourself a beach with a good deep gutter, research your beach in daylight hours, work out where the rips and sandbars are, have a back up plan in mind in case you get there and the current is rippin your bait up the beach and get the missus a gym membership so she cant whinge when you tell her your going fishing again.
We seriously hit any one of many beaches every weekend without fail. If you want to land decent fish, you've gotta spend the time going for it. We fish just about all night. You mustn't go home because the tides getting low. A mate of mine got a 5ft Bronse whaler on dead low tide just recently.
One of the boys often says : " For every night you go home without one, Your just one step closer to takeing home a pisser ".
All the best with it
