  1. Thanks for the info guys and the link as well. Huey, you always pull through with good advise and a 1968 evinrude still running fine is amazing, just goes to show that if you take care of your outboard it will probably out live its owner. Huey, ive been told that converting it to a 30hp is an inexpensive procediure. Can you Pm me with a quote for that and a quote on an impelor and gearoil change as well please. Im a little short on cash at the moment but need to do this very soon, I dont want to destroy the motor as I havnt had it in the water yet and dont know its past service history. thanks

It should lock while it is down as well. Pull the leaver in the lock position and it should lock unless the trim pin is missing. Its the pin that goes in the series of holes along both sides of the transom plate. Hope this helps
  3. Hey, We got a 25hp tohatsu 2 stroke 2006, just wondering if any one can tell me the ideal fuel/oil mixture to use? I usualy use 50:1 with older models but others have said 100:1 or others 25:1???? does the quality of oil matter...semi sinthetic or full synthetic? opinion would be appreciated, maybe Huey can answer this one. thanks
  4. Ye, good Idea. The boat and trailer belongs to my mate but with mine, when i get one, I might put locknuts and crimped roller pins so the have to grind them off to steal the rollers. Stolen rollers would stuff you right up hai? Regards to the slimies.. I havnt cought slimies in middle harbour since 2005!!! Where did you buerly out for them, if you dont mind me asking, there fun fish to catch and good jewie bate as well. You can PM me if you like.
  5. I know it was a very poor day on the almanac today but today was a joke Nothing at all but 3 pesky leather jackets and some a#* hole nocked off with our safety shackel and almost our winch handle on our trailer.(probably realised it didnt fit his winch). We troled almost the whole lot, tunks to weddingcake and back. Nada Any way better than working. and a few later made for a better day.
  6. Has anyone seen this guy poping his head out of the water at north head lately?????
  7. Souds like your helm is stuffed as well or the problem in the first place. I now sugest to take the cable out and check the tracks and move it in and out and if thats OK replace the helm hope it helps as I think you will have a problem in the future...Hope not onyour trip tomorow though.... good luck
  8. Mate, the only thing you have to do on the motor side is unbolt the nut on the steering cable and the whole unit will slide out of the motors body, may be with a tap or two, even if the cable is stuck. The time is in the helm, If you are not replacing the helm, to take the steering out if there is no room, take the lock pin out, slide the old cable out, feed the new cable in and put the lock pin in. And tuck the cable back away where it was. Thats it. you can do it your self.
  9. Yes thanks mate , I know who you mean, Australia St. The motor looks like new and pumps plenty of water but havent had it in the water yet so you could only hope alls fine. Cheers
  10. Hey guys, I just got my hands on for a mate a tohatsu 2006 25hp long shaft tiller electric start to fit on a 395 tinny (4m). I was wondering if any one could tell me if its got a battery charge coil or is there any test to find out, perhaps multimeter? and for $1300..... is that cheap? (we bought a second hand boat package for $2000 and sold the trailer and boat for $700 but kept the motor) its got recipts for $4000 when bought new. What is a second hand 2006 going for these days. Cheers
  11. Thanks for the plug Payatz. Yes I own the steering and still have it If Mike doyle needs it he can have it for $150. And i can arrange postage for a small fee if he likes. Cheers
  12. Cheers guys, Mate i would have gone in for a swim if that happened. I wish I could post a video cause just a few minuts before that catch I got tangled with a seagul and Im trying to shake it loose and when that didnt work I tried to get it untangled carefully so i dont hurt it my mate was filming me and cracking up so much he almost had a coronary.
  13. I dont know how much it wieghs or how long it is but was a dam big surprise when it jumped on my line and dam tasty too
  14. should have done the insurance job on the boat not the car!!#%?
  15. Mate, just a word of warning with Brooker boats. They are a very good boat and been arround for a long time I had one and getting another one BUT when you mount the motor and drill through the transom you will find that the holes will go through the rectangular alloy suport bracing on the in side of the transom. As these are hollow make sure once you drill the hole and before you bolt it up squirt a hell of a lot of sikaflex in the hole (in the channel of the bracing) and on the washers so as to seal it properly. I got a new 90 fitted to my new transom by the dealer and if I didnt have a beilge pump i would have had a lot of water in it! I unbolted it and did this and it was fine, dry as. Just a hint for brooker owners.
