I can confirm it is because he played before you - same score and same time will be ordered by that method.
You are a busy bee - I see we are both in a Bahasa Indo group ;)

    That makes sense, Donna. 😎🙏

Yes, I have a passing interest in Bahasa Indonesia and I’m in a few groups for travel in Bali and also in Thailand and Singapore. I just returned a few weeks back from a solo trip to Thailand, with a 5 night stay in Bali on the way home. Don’t think I’ll do Bali again in February… way too hot and humid for me!  😂 I really only stopped in (using a reward flight) to pay a visit to my late son’s tattooist friends who were upset to hear of his passing 12 months ago (this Sunday). Got a bit of work done myself - memorial tattoo.

I plan to travel a lot more and continue focussing on my music. We are leaving beautiful Port Stephens (mixed emotions),  relocating back to Sydney to an apartment (bought off the plan the day after Ben’s funeral). From there, it is 200m to a Metro station, where we soon will be able to go all the way to Central, then the train to the airport. I will be selling my boat (barely used these days), my Toyota Prado and most of my fishing outfits. Just not fishing much these days, sadly. Very hard decision for me. 😢

I’ll still hang around on Fishraider and play the trivia.

I read the questions to my grandson, some take lots more time than just ticking them off, but I do hit the wrong button often, short fat fingers and not checking the answer.

Yeah, I have FFS too (Fat Finger Syndrome). 😂

What are you blokes on about 😂

Baz you are not playing for sheep stations!

I will go in and change the categories. Are you guys good at religion?

No. I was just curious about NoelM and I coincidentally getting the exact same score in the same time but getting different points. It’s probably because he submitted his entry first. It’s just a bit of fun for me. Something to do… it’s not like I’m going fishing! 😂😂

Has anyone caught fish in the capertee river

I’ve caught trout NEAR Capertee in the Turon. I assume the Capertee is a tributary of the Turon, Rick?

  5. Great to read your update, @Scratchie! You have been, and certainly will be, extremely busy, supporting those talented kids of yours!

And thanks for arranging for me to fish with you and Mick @back cruncher the other day! It was a thoroughly enjoyable day out on the water after my long hiatus and you helped me break my drought!… I was happy with a pan-sized red on plastic, a legal king, and to at least have my arms stretched by a brute, even if he reefed me. I enjoyed watching Mick battle his hoodlum and your careful manoeuvring of the boat to coax him out into deeper, cleaner water.

Thanks for a great day out Jeff and Mick! It has whet my appetite and will tide me over until I can get out when the holidays are over. 🙏 😎

Unfortunately boats can become storage units, “stuff” just gets tossed in there to get it out of the way! When it comes time to fish, it’s too much trouble to clear all the stuff out. My tinny has a ladder in it, some timber slid under it, 2 eskies, all my crab traps are in it, I must clean it out because crabbing season is coming up!

I just did a thorough clean out of mine, as I had to take it in for a service on the motor and there were some electrical issues to sort out, so I knew they’d need space to work. So absolutely everything came out. When I got it back from service, I vacuumed under the floor thoroughly, gave it a good clean, threw out a lot of crap and reorganised all my gear in a more efficient manner.

My son had a collection of around 50 or more pairs of Nike shoes. I’m slowly going through the collection, have given some to some of his close friends and cousins, have kept a lot for myself and have just started cleaning a few pairs whenever there’s a spare sunny day. Might sell some. Might keep them all. 🤷‍♂️ But the deck of the boat is a great place for drying them out! 😂

  7. My boat has not been in the water for quite a while, for a number of reasons, but the forward deck near the anchor well does come in handy as a place to put sports shoes out to dry after cleaning them! 😂 And the aerial is a great hanger to dry my coffee sock! 😂

Does anyone else use their boat for non-boating purposes when it’s just sitting in the driveway? 🤔

  8. Hi everyone!

What is the best/easiest method of cleaning marine carpet in my boat? In particular, what looks like mould? See photos attached.

    TIA.

Good to see you back @Berleyguts. Sorry for your loss. Your fishraider trivia daily scores are getting harder to beat btw.

Stars - best and outstanding band!!

    Thanks Donna,

Moving on slowly but every day is a struggle. 😢 Music is a great help and I look forward to jamming/practicing with my band each week. Think it’s time to do another solo gig, too. It’s very cathartic.

Re the Trivia… I have been lucky with some guesses and  my lovely wife is a great help with music questions (as long as they’re not country or obscure rap) and movie stuff, if I’m unsure’ 😂

  10. Just getting back on Fishraider after a long hiatus and a tragic loss in my family (although I’ve tried to play the trivia challenge each day).

Some great songs, bands and artists discussed here, for sure but not one mention of Aussie rock legend, Richard Clapton???!!! My favourite artist by far… I have literally seen him thousands of times. INXS supported him on his 1980 Dark Spaces tour. He produced their 2nd album and they went on to be huge in their own right. Richard, or “Ralph” as he is often called, always has extremely talented musicians in his band and his highly respected by his peers. Listen to (uncredited) Ian Moss on I Am An Island, for instance. Kirk L’Orange on the Goodbye Tiger album. Other guitarists of note that worked with him include the late Andy Durant (Stars), the late Harvey James (Sherbert), Diesel, the extremely talented Dave Leslie (Baby Animals) and most commonly of late, the brilliant Danny Spencer (Rogue Traders, Jimmy Barnes). Bass players include the legendary Michael Hegerty (Stars, Jimmy Barnes) Graham “Buzz” Bidstrup (Angels, Party Boys, Gangajang) Graham Thompson (Stars, Finch, Avalanche, Broderick Smith).

Check Ralph out… he has a great back catalogue and I like his new stuff too… but I am biased!

@Berleyguts Baz, condolences to you and your family. I was informed that you lost a family member recently. Black Dog is relentless.

Stewy and I and all raiders send our condolences. As Little Flatty and Blackfish said "yell if if there is anything we can do".

Thank you Donna and @Little_Flatty and @Blackfish and @Burger. Yes, I lost my “little mate” at 30 years old on the weekend. He will be deeply missed but we find solace in knowing that he is finally at peace. The black dog is a right bitch. 😔  This is why I have not been so active on Fishraider lately. I have rarely been fishing because I felt I needed to stay at home with my wife as much as possible. I think I’ve only had my boat in the water 4 times since Covid started! I’m pretty sure a move from my beloved Port Stephens back to Sydney is on the cards within the next 12 months. As we already downsized here, it looks like we’ll only be able to afford a unit (not taking on another mortgage at our age!), so I’ll probably have to sell the boat. Secretly hoping I can afford a bigger boat (that I can live aboard on) to keep on a marina here, so I can still visit and get to Broughton. 🤫 But we have to farewell our boy first. I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy. However, we find solace and strength in the countless messages and calls of support. Hug your loved ones. Often. And don’t be afraid or ashamed to talk about mental health. Seek help if you need it. Offer help if you can. 🫂

  12. I used to catch yabbies using a small piece of meat tied to a length of cotton (guess you could use fine fishing line) and just pull in slowly. Worked fine in farm dams and we used to get heaps in the bore drains around Moree. We also used pieces of roo meat from road kill and catch them in the river near Mungindi.

I bought him one of those mic stand attachments but can't get him to use it, he has a fair few notes on changes etc he makes to each song.

I can do all that in the OnSong app. Want to use a capo? Key change/transpose? It’s just a click of a button. If I do a song in a number of different ways (as our band does), I just create another file. You can create setlists and add timings etc. so you can make sure you have enough songs for a gig.

Thanks for posting that, Donna. I’ll try and find the performance.

@JonDI sometimes forget lyrics, too, even to the songs I’ve written myself! My band tries a lot of new songs (to me)… songs that I would not normally have considered singing when performing solo, so for many of them, I like to have lyrics in front of me… even if I don’t look at them all the time, it’s reassuring to know they are there! 😂 Rather than a music stand and folder (which I used to use), I now use an iPad in a holder that clips to my mic stand. I put my songs in an app called OnSong and I can even scroll down or turn pages with a wireless Bluetooth foot pedal. I have over 150 songs in that app. The more I use it, the less I have to use it, if you know what I mean! If Jakob’s interested and would like more info, let me know. 😉

They really played on the forgetful storyline, he was actually told to take his music folder on stage by them playing on the fact he can be forgetful. They also put several cuts in his song which made it seem like he had forgotten bits. When he plays gigs he has over 200 songs he has notes with in his folder but a fair amount of them he can do without his folder.
Recorded on my phone by the lake at our house.

I missed the audition. I’ll have to see if I can find it. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to watch the show, as I’m flying out to Singapore and Thailand on Monday (in the middle of a super Port Stephens black marlin season mind you! 🤷‍♂️ One of the top game fishing charter boats tagged 17 the other day. Go figure!).

Love Jakob’s voice in that clip! I’m a baritone myself and have to be selective with songs I choose to do. I tune down or change key when I perform on my own but my band seems to like doing songs in their original key. 🤷‍♂️

Was Jakob’s audition in that register? 😎

  16. Great to hear from you, Jeff… you’ve been almost as quiet as me of late! 😂 Hope all is well. Great report! I put the muffs on the motor the other day and she fired up first time. Now I have to dust the cobwebs out of the boat. 😂 I just checked my inflateable life jackets and realised it’s 2 years since I tested them so I’ll have to do that too! 🤷‍♂️ I think this season might be my best chance to christen my boat with a marlin. Have you heard of any dollies at the FAD?

I think we should have a competition " who has the untidiest shed " I recon I would win hands down.

Anyone who has seen my sheds knows that I am not the neatest workman about the place, sometimes amazes me how I manage to get things done, eventually!!.

But to get back on subject. Baz the Minn Kota is looking good.

    Frank

Well, the problem is, we downsized from a large 2 story 4 bedroom home with rumpus, 3 bathrooms, double garage plus heaps of storage and workshop space under the house and stand alone boatport, to a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home, with a study built into half of a double garage, no carport, no yard on a small battle axe block. All was manageable until my son moved back in and we now have the boat, 3 cars and my motor scooter (treated myself to the scooter after my recent trip to Bali). 🤷‍♂️😂

Yes, well, I’ll need to get a boat cover made now! 😂

Yeah, well… the missus was on my case about tidying up the garage. I had to move the boat out to do it. Now it sits in the driveway, so maybe I will take it out more! 😂
