  2. Hi Guys Though everyone would like a look at this link of a couple of the Blue Fin Kalira got onto the other week the smallest of these is over 80kg and the biggest 128kg....
  3. many more over 100 now.... Jedi brought two in yesterday biggest 167kgs....... We are giving teh portland boys a run for their money now .... Congrats to all on these massive barrels bayley
  4. hi Guys Fished on Frigate for the comp with captin Stu taking out heviest YFT at 30.5 on saturday. We had a great comp with 3 fin from 25 to 30kgs boated and 4 good fish lost on 10 and 8kg line 2 of wick were after more than an hr fight which was dissapointing. The Cube was definately more productive than the troll. The sunday saw us fish the same spot as the previouse day but with out sight of a fin we managed a good mako of 200 + kg in the last hr of fishing so we had to through it a 37kg outfit so to be asured we could boat it in time... 45 mins lated the gaffs were in and all hell broke loose the mako was green as and not a happy camper.......... the bugger eventually rolled several time to dislodge the gaffs and striped the 400pound leader back to nothing and he was gone . But thats fishing... was a great comp and a good result for us finally weighing some decent fish in our home comp. good turn out and a well ran comp by the BBGFC and commity Thanks to all and we will see you all next yr Regards Bayley
  5. Frigate will be down there from thursday for the comp. lets hope we get some good weather and plenty of fish.
  6. Nice one Boys. are you guys still coming up for the Bermi Comp at Easter ?
  7. we had between 21.5 to 23.0 deg C on the weekend check your SST,s though shouldnt be much cloud cover today
  8. Any one got a spare spot to fish the interclub ????? not that keen to drag our trailerboat up that far....?
  9. May I ask why you chose Eden ? Definately get on a charter first time round, and if your really keen come a bit further north to bermagui or Batemans bay for a really good chance of getting your first marlin. the charter guys know where the fish are and generally have exceptional results. Feel free to PM me for a good operator in the area.
  10. Fishing jervis hopefully if the weather plays its part ....
  11. Cheers Ross Yeah we plan to specificaly target blues a bit this year we are really keen to get one . We will be running the two 37kg outfits and 2 24kgs, we are also set up for switch baiting which i believe will be valuable. I put this post up to get some opinion and general feed back on my decision and it has proven to be a good read and some sound advice. Cheers guys
  12. Mate im not talking about fishing from a chair with 60kg tackle and of cause you want the maximum amount of like possible on your reel, but i made my choice on the fact that fishing out of a 6m trailerboat 600m on a 50wlrsa is more practical than say an 80w especially if the conditions are against you, I think id be prepared to pay for another spool if it actually happened, not to dismiss the power at all of a blue this rig would also be more versitile on stripes and tuna also.
  13. Thought id get everyones opinion here on how much line do you think you will need??? coming from a gamefishing background the norm is the magical 1000m mark...I came to this question though recently when spooling my brand new 37kg set up.. I had opted to go for a Tiagra 50w LRSA on a custom bent butt rod. I didnt want the added weight of an 80w because fishing stand up in a 6 m trailer boat in some moderate sea poses enough trouble without a heavy bulky reel. The intention of this set up was for marlin fishing along the NWS coast ( there are some Big Blues out there) though now after spooling it up with 37kg tiagra line i realise that i have about 400m left from the 1000m spool.. which gives me aprox 600 on the reel. Is this enough ? are the disadvantages of a bulky reel out weighed by the advantage of more line ? our trailerboat is rather manouverable but a big blue can run a long way too ....... Bayley Team Frigate
