  1. @HawkesburyParadise welcome to your new addition and another little one to our fishraider family. mrsswordie
  2. Catching anything is worthwhile Mike! I like the way you try all sorts of methods and tackle. Very scientific! That’s a bewdy, that brag mat. Would be great to have FISHRAIDER along it as you open it out Our old ones were called “the measure of success”
  3. The lady wasn’t taking a leisurely swim. I heard on news reports she was wading/swimming to a nearby boat. She was really close to the jetty and lucky she was able to yell out to neighbours.
  4. It used to be her thing! I have been on a women's fishing fb group for years. Mel is also a member/moderator. About 3 years ago I put up a pic of a hairtail I caught and Mel asked me "amazing, would you tell me how to target this species"? I linked it to my very in depth report on Hairtail here on fishraider. Pretty sure Mel was included on a Deckee "Women in Fishing" write up too. She is very commercial now and no time for forums. Once sponsorship happens they have a few extra rules. I lurk around the fb groups and visit sometimes to read the absolute rubbish there. I might be biased but Fishraider is still the best place to find info and meet some great folk who all like fishing and boating
  5. Delicious and a big Happy Bday to you all. Weather looked great for swimming. Love that area. We tow the van up and stay at Tuncurry CP. We are off down south soon and hope we catch some big fish.
  6. Great raider spirit right there Ian. @Birdy where are you in Eastern Subs? Ian did you grab any weed ?
  7. @BaitDropper thank you for this post. I am pinning it. @Steve0 thank you for your very important information. Your links are excellent and should be watched/read by all. Sorry to hear you and your daughter have MMA (mammalian meat allergy) mrsswordie
  8. @DerekD I hope the video creator joins fishraider and joins in on the conversations 👏
  9. Lovely day out with the family Basil. Well done all
  10. Swordie says Harro was legendary. He mentioned “Going for Gold” video.
  11. @DerekD fantastic work. Getting small groups together is a perfect way to impart your knowledge. @linewetter thanks for the great report on the day and the pics. You have only joined fishraider recently but you show great raider spirit 👏 Love the photo of the crew! mrsswordie
  12. Is this lady a fishraider or a friend of yours Ian?
  13. A great video Neil. I particularly like the soundtrack. I have been to all those places mentioned in that song! Hoping we get some good video of these fish soon too.
  14. Thanks for your post. It highlights the importance of protecting skin and eyes when outside. Sorry you suffered heat exhaustion. Take plenty of water to drink often. Sunscreen is essential. You need to find one that you are not allergic to. See a specialist to get your skin checked regularly. Hats and protective clothing must be used. There are buffs and hand protection gloves that are effective also. Sunglasses are another item needed whenever outside too. We have a member who is an optometrist who wrote this post on the right sunglasses to protect your eyes. Swordie is about to have areas treated on his nose by his specialist dermatologist in just a few hours. His love of fishing has resulted in many, many treatments and excisions. He goes every 3 months and has treatments. Please have your skin checked.
  15. It's a bit exciting when they come to do filming in your area. I grew up in Coogee and we had many shoots happening around all the beaches, cliffs and suburbs like Maroubra. It was popular and agree Frank they had to use lots of space to set things up. I was the subject of a documentary in 1974. It was ABC Chequerboard and they filmed me for several weeks. They came to our small flat, my school, the beach, a party I went to. They brought lots of lighting equipment and Mum got a few dollars for the electricity bill. I was just 16, doing my school certificate and had my 1st boyfriend who was 20 and had a sports car. It was in stark contrast to the 2nd part of the doco who was a young man from Mosman was doing his higher school certificate. He was not allowed out at all except to a matinee movie or to kick a ball on the beach with school mates. He was not allowed to have a girlfriend or do anything out of the boundaries set by his mother. So I saw the production side of things from a different angle. Back to the original post (thanks Ian) https://www.hornsby.nsw.gov.au/business/invest/filming-in-hornsby-shire a bit more info on the filming The actual new Australian TV Drama is called The Last Anniversary. Book written by Liane Moriarty author of Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. Nicole Kidman is in the cast and also produces the 6 episodes for this first series. Look for it on Binge
