  1. Hi Fishos, Can anyone tell me the life and habits of a Hawkesbury herring. I have a few questions: How long do they live? Do the migrate up or out of the estuary's? What is their diet? Where do the hang out, ie structures, sandy bottoms, weed beds, no locations requested, Can you catch them at night Can you preserve them, salt them for you next outing? I have caught them occasionally when fishing for garfish in the Cowan. Any info would be appreciated Waldo
  2. Success Where your shift rod connects to your clutch rod (lower half), located halfway down the housing, near hinge, loosen the lock nut to the clutch rod, then loosen the turnbuckle (above the lock nut) until it seperates fron the clutch rod. Thanks for the support. Waldo

  5. Hi Fishos, Raining weather has given me an oportunity to work on my tinnie and motor, On my last outing I noticed the water pump strugling so Ive decided to replace the impella, Ive removed the bolts to the lower unit but cannot figure out how the shift rod disconnects from the upper body. Any body tackled this problem and succeeded? Stuck Waldo
  6. Thanks slimymac, I did get out into the channel this morning but was unfamiliar with the area. After a few drifts i started to get interperut the seascape but did not jig for squid. Watched the locals drift the channel, could not see anyone pulling in a thing. There must have been about 6 boats. Went inside to the dropoff and caught heaps of undersized bream and whiting. I'll give the channel another go in a few weeks Cheers Waldo
  7. Forgot to mention all flatties were 38cm to 44cm Cheers Waldo
  8. Hi Raiders, It has been a a while since i contributed. Went out with the neighbour (first timer for plastics) early last saturday morning, dropped the boat off at mooney mooney boat ramp. On an outgoing tide I fished the points heading up to milsons passage, bar point. Took 10 flatties home, Neighbour did well, sorry no pics. Used a blood red worm on a light 1/4oz jighead Moved the bait ever so slowly and we were getting fantstic hits Tried the carolina rig and that worked well also. Had to be home by lunch but was exiting. Heading out to swansea channel tommorow morning, Do you catch squid in the channel? Cheers Waldo
