  1. Well done!! I often fish in and around that spot when I go and visit the in-laws, have had a few bass out which is always fun.
  2. This is a thread that could go on and on, sadly the people that will leave areas in such a state are generally beyond any sensible reason. I never understand why some 'fishermen' don't just have a plastic bag with them and put all the loose bits and pieces along with the rubbish and dump? If there's not a bin at the wharf take it home and put in a bin that way.
  3. I'll have to get back over and try that area as caught some fun flatties there last summer, threw some sp's out at Blackwattle Bay Park/Bicentenial Park (Glebe) yesterday morning and had a decent bream and tailor. Still feels a bit early to be hoping for some big fish but with the nice weather who knows?
  4. I know it will sound stupid, but did you just have some chicken breast on the hook? was it in a special way, or just cut and hooked on?
  5. I think I ended up at the same park as you on Sunday afternoon, got there about 4:00pm but didn't have any luck so I headed over to Glebe where a decent flathead was taken on plastics.
  6. What bait and rig would you use for carp fishing, I often see them in some of the places I go and would give it a go..Back in the UK we would use sweet corn, bread or specalized carp bait, any different over here? Cheer John
  7. Looks like a great catch, i am hoping to start some beach fishing in the next month or so and will be the first time so what kind of rig/set up did you use? I'm just trying to get some info together in my head!! Cheers John
  8. Thanks for the advice, I will look into the places mentioned. The safety side of things is something i'm very keen to follow. The spot I fished from in coogee was viwed for a while as i watched the waves, wind etc..Even then I found a spot I liked it was covered on one side, and with the surf below didn't have to go anywhere near the edge. I've seen some people down lower walking from Coogee to Bondi, but to me that seems madness be you experienced or not. Once I get a car it will be easier, I'll be able to find some new places to fish, but also some safe places too.
  9. I'll have to check that spot out, if on foot do you go right from Coogee and just keep walking? I keep seeing some guys fishing at the top of a path about 10 mins from Coogee. I went last night for an hour or so, pulled in 2 Flatheads (I think) and had 2 drop off on route up the rock face!! I might go for a longer walk on Sunday afternoon, and see what I can find. On a similar note, the other direction heads towards Gordon's Bay and Bondi etc, are those spots any good?
  10. I thought I would drop a line off the rocks near Coogee, as I am living down that way at the moment. Went for an hour or so last night, and got a couple of flathead (I think) and a couple more fell as i lifted them up the rocks about 25ft. Like all good fisherman I lost a good one too, not sure if it was a Flattie or not as it took me back and forth againt the surf, so quite strong? Good times, i'll go back for sure.
  11. Hi I was down near Coogee Beach last night, and if you take a short walk right from the beach looking out to sea you find a green space with some rocks that i saw some guys fishing from last night. I watched for a bit and could see them pull a couple of small fish in, so I wanted to know what would be the best baits and rig to use. The drop is about 20 ft at a guess, so do you just put some weight on the line let it drift with the surf and use pilchards or prawns etc? Any advise or tips would be appreciated. Also what locations around Darling harbour are good to drop a line, I've been down at Pirrama r near Pyrmont but wondered what other areas you can do this.. (Oh I have no car, so that limits things) Can you fish anywhere in the Harbour, or some areas no go?
  12. Thanks for that, IF I ever hook into one again i'll know what to do..Thanks for the heads up about the blue ring, my friend also told me so i'll be on the look out.
  13. My continued learning curve of fishing in Sydney saw me go down to Watsons Bay last night. Turned out to be a fun couple of hours, a few small fish caught with mainly bream but also had a cuttlefish, and I got an Octopus!! I was quite shocked by this as the lakes in central London aren't the places for creatures from horror movies I do have a question though, how do you unhook one?

    Nepean

Cheers Tommy, next time I'm up that way I'll make sure to pack a small can of sweetcorn and some bread along with my lures!!
  15. What bait do you use for the mullet in the Nepean, I fancy giving it a go one time as have family up there but not sure what to do..Cheers If all else fails I'll give some lures a crack and see if any bass are interested
