  1. Definitely definitely dont discount topwater mate. My dad managed a massive 46cm ttt river caught bass on a zman popfrogz. We managed another 3 fish that session all on the same lure
  2. Really wanna trek it down to the harbour for a land based squida/fish sesh but dont know if it will be worth it haha. Nice catch
  3. Thanks for that! I've heard so many rumours about people catching a bass and going to release it only to be sprung by fisheries and fined. Made me wonder what would happen if it were a genuine bi-catch. Thanks though mate, now im not scared to go test out my new yak fishing for some bass. I'm sure the majority of bass fisherman practice c&r anyway regardless of whether it's open or closed season.
  4. I've had one of those bass kayak's since i was about 12 and have landed countless amounts of bass on the nepean river on them. Loved it as it was extremely stable. I recently upgraded to a sit on yak because i've grown a fair bit since i was 12 (now 18) and my legs no longer fit inside the yak on the pedals where you rest your feet whilst paddling. Regarding the rod holder, from memory im fairly sure it had a flat section just at the front lip where you may be able to use some sort of adhesive mount for a holder? just an idea
  5. Awesome read mate, reminds me of the days when id go fishing with my dad as a kid. Keep it up and he'll be outfishing you in no time consistently haha
  6. Awesome catch mate, im tempted to go have a go now. Not sure what i will get though due to the fast current and cold muddy water. Any hints on your location? Understandable if you dont wanna say
  7. Hey mate, if you dont mind me asking, where abouts were you fishing? Nice catch!
  8. Hey Funnierthanyou, they arent all that big but most do hold around the 45-55cm mark. Alot of catfish and eels were caught inbetween but it would still be fun with the kids. I usually go just below the rowing club off the green mat, asling as youre respectful (which i'm sure you are) and clean up after yourself then theyre fine with fishing off their mats and getting in the way if rowers come in aha. Also, Leanordgid, alot of the carp and eels that i've caught have infact been given to people who looked interested or asked for them. I did advise that I myself probably wouldnt eat them but that if they had a taste/want/need for the catches then they were more than welcome to them. Cheers for the replies everyone
  9. Haha yeah I can't say I like em too much but they are awesome fun on the light gear
  10. As of late I have been heading down to the local (Nepean River) and trying my hand at carp fishing with some relative success. Out of the 4 or 5 times I have been we've landed about 15 fish with the biggest being around the 85-90cm mark. All of the fish were caught on either corn or bread fed onto a size 6 Gamakatsu baitholder hook. the rod i have been using is a 2-4Lb fdaiwa black label (superb) matched with a 2000 Freams and 4Lb crystal fireline. Considering the general concencus on carp and their evil ways, they are still a great fighting fish and are awesome to target whilst trying to teach beginner fisherman/woman the ropes. All fish were killed quickly and disposed of in an orderly fashion.
  11. Definitely agree with the need for a larger need of fisheries in the area. Everytime i go fishing i see undersize fish being put into buckets and keeper nets and it pi$ses me off so bad
  12. Hey mate, a few weeks ago me and my cousin got a good bag of whiting on live prawns in the lake. Might've just been that night but a few were getting pulled in
  13. awesome session mate, definitely no complaining there what setup are you using? specifically the rod and line
  14. Definitely a few nice fish in there mate good on ya
