  1. Do you use these rod holders but you have short handle rods that slip out when you use these particular rod holders (also referred to as snapper racks) i have a free fix that prevents your rod from slipping out and gives you peace of mind and the comfort of tightening your lines and being able to use the rod holder properly with short handled rods i.e placing it straight in instead of diagonally so it doesnt slip out. first you cut a groove in the rod handle so so it fits in the rod holder metal support as shown in the pic below second you use a fat cable tie and tie it around the rod in a way so that the metal support of the rod holder sits snuggly inbetween the reel and the cable tie head, be sure to tighten the cable tie head so that the head is in the correct position and make sure its really tight i appreciate all feedback, tight lines fellas
  2. Thanks for all the advice, I bought the brooker seaman 450.it has a 40hp Yamaha cv, front steering and a colour fish finder $8400. All 2001 model I'll try to upload some pics.
  3. thanks for the advice bream. i will stick with 4.5m size boats and over. i have my eye on a clean brooker seaman 2001, with front steering, power tilt/trim and 40hp yammie. freinds advised me that tiller steer sometimes becomes uncomfortable to drive in because you cannot see infront of you all the time. They also told me boats without windscreens tend to allow splash to fall on riders. im learning as i go along. last boat i bought i got absolutely rorted up the a$$, so this time i want to do my research and get as much advice as i can.

  5. the best report i have ever read well done
  6. hi is there any squid in clifton gardens wharf area?
  7. Thanks a lot for sharing the info on the stacer rampage. It is a very cheap boat(price wise). I tried looking up specs for it like width of beam and inside depth of boat but there is no info. Even the stacer website does not include this boat.......? Have you got any links to more info or any personal experience on this 429 stacer rampage?
  8. hi i really value your guys opinions and advice, thank you for the quick replies. i went to inspect the boat today. I found out the engine is a mercury/tohatsu model, made in japan. It is a 2 cylinder, single carby engine. It is also manufactured in 2004 not 2007 as advertised. The hull was a 2005 model which was also advertised as a 2007 model. Also i found out he previously had a larger engine and had swapped it for this smaller engine when he wanted to sell it. A larger engine would have been more suitable, especially the fact that it is licensed to carry 5 Adults I do not feel comfortable to buy the boat of someone that has given false advertisement for his boat. Better luck next time i guess.
  9. Hi i have been looking for a small boat for fishing in sydney. i have no intention to go near the heads or past the heads, just to fish in bays, harbours and explore rivers around sydney and nsw. I am interested in this boat and would appreciate advice on if it is suitable and good value. the specs are; *4.1 m brooker sea-al 2007 model (fairly deep, has wide gunnels and flat floor, seats 5 adults) *brooker trailer also 2007 model with spare tyre *both have rego till dec 23 2011 *30hp 2007 mercury with tiller steer, elec start and manual tilt, very low hours *foldable canopy for rear half of boat *anchor and chain, 5 life jackets, X2 25l petrol tanks, oars *DOES NOT HAVE seats, rod holders, lights, storage The condition is like brand new, its one owner and its hardly been used. the owner bought it from andrew shorts marine in taren point for ~$12000 4 years ago. He is asking for $8500. Is it suitable and what is a reasonable offer? thanks in advance http://img51.imageshack.us/i/brooker.jpg/
  10. thanks a lot for that, thats very nice of you. My back is not the best and i get rough when things start to crowd all over me, but i am going to take your advice and hire a kayak for half a day and see how i like it. How did those snappers fighting on the light gear feel?
  11. thats an excellent catch. i have been deciding on whether to buy a kayak or a dinghy. if you can catch fish like that, the kayak looks like a better choice. does it get uncomfortable sitting for long hours? does it get crowded on the kayak with your bait, catch, rods, net etc?
  12. hi rod33, nice catch. the weather looked gloomy this morning. you said "unweighted" when you referred to how you threw the yellow tail bait, do you mean you had no sinker at all and you just cast your rod? sorry if its a stupid question, im just learning.
  13. that looks exactly like those giant squids from usa i neve seen a arrow squid that big before well done
  14. i use to have braid and it was excellent, however i went through a spool in 1 month due to so many tangles and birds nest. I now use 6lb fireline. Its the best. I also use a 12lb flurocarbon leader tied onto the fireline, no swivel, this has been the best setup i have used.
  15. thats a great pic. Im amazed that yaris pulled it of. Japan make excellent cars. i might do exactly what you have done. I always thought you need a fuel guzzling v6 with rear wheel drive, but you proved me wrong.
