  1. Thanks for the feedback guys, I guess i'll survey the place and hopefully it should be OK if other decent fisho's around for company/safety. Wouldn't want to be there by myself to start with.
  2. Good feed of squid as least. Has been very slow on the northern beaches lately. Are kings active at night? I thought a jew would have been more likely at night and snapped you off.
  3. Hi Guys After recent posts of nice jews caught off the wharves i wouldn't mind giving fishing in the parra a go. Just to fish not to catch a feed. As I live in the hills and usually travel 1hr+ to hit the beaches on the northern beaches mostly, it would be good to have something more local when the itch strikes. After reading some of the old threads, its clear that there are a minority that cause trouble at places like these. My question is would it be safe to fish any of these spots e.g (kissing point, meadowbank, anything else?) by myself at night? Are there any wharves that offer better protection then another e.g camera's, lighting, security, parking? I can handle anti social behaviour to a degree but if my life becomes in danger or if robbing is a likely outcome I would rather not take the risk. Any thoughts, feedback? Thanks Dan
  4. Thanks guys, I'll try both set-ups and see what works best on the day,
  5. Hi Guys I've been getting into beach fishing lately, mainly targeting the northern beaches (so far narrabeen and mona vale) Does any one else find it hard to find a gutter along narrabeen? I have all the correct setups and know how to look for gutters. Has it been slow on the beaches or am i doing something wrong? When it comes to wind direction and speed is there a particular direction beach fisho's look for? Last few outings I have fished in easterly/southerly winds with not much success. Also a question on sinkers. I normally use a paternoster rig with gangs and a 110g/140g star sinker. Last few times on retrieval the sinker becomes so buried under the sand that it feels like a snag to get it out of there. Is this due to the swell/current/wind? Should i be using a running sinker while beach fishing, as i thought that if a tailor or salmon took the bait, they couldnt have made any run as the sinker would have been buried 1m in the sand.? Usually I plan to catch a tailor or salmon and then fillet them and then throw out a fillet bait. Any feedback appreciated. Cheers Dan
  6. Hi Guys Thinking of hitting one of the northern beaches tonight to fish the high tide, Anyone fished there in the last few days or recently to know what beach is being more productive then the rest or if there are any good gutters around and where to find them? Any help appreciated. Cheers Dan
  7. Hi Raiders Looking at doing some night fishing up here every now and then. Went and inspected the place last week and have a few general questions for the locals. A)Which side would be better if targeting jewfish, tailor, palagics? river side, beach side or straight out at the point? B)Where is the best place to catch yakka's from the breakwall? Would it be pretty much anywhere if burley is applied? C)What would be the best method for fishing this place? Float or patanosta rig? D)Would do you think would be more productive, the breakwall or fishing of the beach to the left of it? E)Is it worth flicking some 5" jerkshads at night or best if done at sunrise/sunset? Thanks and sorry for all the questions Cheers Dan
  8. Im also recently new to using braid. So would you say the majority of people use the albright knot to tie their mono/flourocarbon leaders to their braid. Would this knot be stronger than just tieing your braid to one side of a swivel and tieing your mono on the other side of the swivel?
  9. hey lsdjy3 havent been yet. hopefully in the next week or two. let me know if you go before me, although expect any landbased fishing spot to have bigger crowds due to the holidays Dan
  10. Hi when i used to do carp fishing in the cabramatta creek, near the location where Gazza has mentioned around 6years ago, just behind the soccer fields, i used to mash white break with sliced cheese with abit of water to make it into a dough. i found that worked very well. back then the system was packed with huge ones i dont know how it is today though. the eels and turtles loved it aswell lol Dan
  11. Top catch there mate and a interesting read. Funny now things happen when you least expect them, espically during fishing Dan
  12. thanks guys ill try both spots and let you know what happens in the coming weeks. merry xmas and safe/productive fishing to all dan
  13. hi guys i usually fish the rocks up and down the coast but my girlfriend is interested in coming fishing we me over the holidays. iv heard blues point is a safer landbased option and easily accessible? i believe theres a car park and toilets nearby. questions 1: from what sort of structure is the fishing e.g rocks, sand, jetty? 2: what type of fish have been caught or are able to be caught if targeted? 3:landbased what sort of depth would be the water from a decent cast say on high tide? 4:is this place packed and overfished like say cliffton gardens? 5:typical rig? is it very rocky and is a float required or can you bottom fish it relatively easy without snagging? 6:is there squid to be caught there or would i look like a fool targeting them? much appreciated for any feedback raiders thanks Dan
  14. thanks bobfish just wanted to make sure cheers daniel
