  1. Thanks for that Cargo, I need to control myself and not buy anymore gear at the moment for bream lure fishing. I am already tempted to buy a new reel and rod. Kinda thinking that in the kayak id have two with different lures on them so that I could just try out either one at the one time. It is very addictive isint it
  2. Hi folks, It has been an eternity since my last post, but here it is. I finally landed a few bream on a hard body lure. I decided that I had enough of reading posts and magazine articles depicting small lures hanging out of the gobs of monstrous blue nosed bream. It was time I got one for myself. I did a bit of a search and purchased a few breamy looking lures. The next day I was geared for war and with my new collection of bream lures I set off in search of old blue nose. Sitting in my kayak, drifting slowly, I cast towards every bit of shade I could find. After two hours with no luck, I cast perfectly under a huge over hanging tree. All the casting practice with small lures had finally paid off, I started to slowly wind in when I felt a few nudges. A well undersized bream took the little river2sea lure, It was not much but made me smile. To my surprise another bream was sitting in the same bit of shade, he was fairly small also but for me this was a massive win. After no more hits in that area I moved underneath a bridge and cast towards all the pylons. Boom got a hit as soon as my lure landed. The fish swam underneath the Kayak but always seemed to be on the surface. Eventually brought in the little taylor, wishing it was another bream. Just before I called it quits I decided to have a few casts along a weed bed, the current and wind pushed my kayak towards every unwanted angle. I was just about to straighten up my kayak ready to move and my drag started to run a bit. Winding up I felt the kicks of a still small but slightly bigger bream. Was so thrilled about it that I managed to take a pic of him from my phone. It's not much to look at but made my trip worth it. Thanks for reading. Reeseman. My collection of new bream lures. Just a small one but was plenty of fun.
  3. yeah, large juice bottle. The ones that are like a rectangle shape. Cut a H shape into it with a sharp knife and then bend the flaps back inwards. Put some bread in one side of it and a small rock to hold it down. And bring a shot gun when the ducks rock up.
  4. I am currently watching loads of poddy mullet swim around m trap only to get scared off by evil ducks!!! My God I now hate ducks!
  5. I think I enjoy tying flies more than using them actually.
  6. Could be a whiting that someone coloured in with high lighters.
  7. Went down to test out my new rod that i just bought. Shimano T-Curve 1-3kg rod, I was casting up a storm, I was using little halco scorpions and was amazed to watch the amount small bream that kept smashing the little lure. After about an hour of constantly casting, I became extremely bored and started to wind in the lure at a pace snails would call slow. As I was doing this a decent bream was shadowing the lure. I paused the lure and watched in anticipation as the lure gradually rose to the surface. The bream slowly started to rise with the lure and then just turned and left. I sat there completely crushed that I didn't hook him. After a few more casts I moved to a rock wall to fish off of and changed over to some small plastics. A massive silver flash caught my eye about 6 meters away from where i was perched. Then a big cloud of sand welled up from the same spot. Still shocked by the disturbance I didn't notice the school Jewie make its way out of the cloud of sand and sit almost in a foot of water near a mangrove tree. He was only a little bloke of about 4 or 5 kg's. I danced a bigger plastic not too far away from his nose but he was not in the mood. I accidently bumped him with the plastic and he casually swam off to the depths. First time I had ever seen a jewie in my life, was pretty thrilled about it. Interesting to note that all the small bream in the area started schooling behind the jewie and followed it as it swam away. Later a few massive mullet started swimming along the shallows. So todays totals were, minus one lure, got a few hits. Saw some awesome stuff. All in all was an ok day . P.S. If anyone has any really good tips or anything they could share with me on hard bodies for bream then send me a message. Cheers Reeseman.
  8. Thanks for the reply Jack. Well I ended up buying a rod on my weekly walk into the tackle shop, and came out with a Shimano T-Curve Ultra Lite Spin 662 by Ian Miller. Was $199 but i got it for $150, hopefully i wasnt ripped off. It is a 1-3kg rod really balanced with my shimano deceiver reel. I took it out for a flick at the georges river this arvo. Got a ton of hits but sadly no hook ups to test her out. Maybe I'll go early tomorrow morning. Thanks for the Advice guys, much appreciated. Kind Regards Reeseman.

  11. Hi Raiders, I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on a decent rod to match my Shimano Deceiver DCV1025 reel, its a really small bright orange reel, that looks smaller than most 1000 series reels. I currently have it loaded with 2lb fireline and a 4lb leader. I have been using the reel on my Pflueger medalist 3-5kg tournament spin rod, was using it for whiting fishing which was a bit of fun, but I am after a 1-3 kg rod around the $150 mark which would really match my little reel. I have been slowly getting more and more into my bream lure fishing and want to put together an awesome set up to specifically chase bream on small hard bodies. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Reeseman.
  12. Yeah it's an awesome place when it work out. That's my first freshwater fishing location. First place I caught a bass lot of good memories of running down for a fish after my Uni break
  13. Thanks for the help guys I will let you know how I go and hopefully show some pictures. Regards Reeseman
  14. Hi guys. I have been going crazy trying to land a few whiting on lures. I have tried so many lures, different line poundages etc and still I've had NO SUCCESS. I'm fishing off of sand flats at Nelson Bay Area, specifically Taylor's beach. I met another lure fisho down there who I think had every lure known to man in his jacket. And he was there from 5am till 10 am. 9 am was the change from low to high tide and he didn't even get a follow up. Is there anyone who has cracked the whiting on lures code, if so please tell me what I'm missing. :-(
  15. Thanks Luderick, I have had a few hits with whiting, bream and garfish, but i only tested them out once last year in the salt, i caught about 6 small redfin at my uncles place about 6 months back, but truth be told i dont know too much about fly fishing at all, i own 2 rods both 6wt. Between work uni and the misses i have no time to fish, i do practice in the back yard now and then i figured practising my fly casting is one way to keep me sane. Cheers Reeseman
