  1. dont think we are going to have much luck with the flatties this summer if the mouth stays the way it is .....hopefully they might get the dredge down there suck some of the sand out for a temporary fix once again..........anyway nice work mate i know its tough going down there at the moment cheers steve
  2. i catch the poddys at picnic point about 20 to 30 meters away from where i fish just using a square see through tuppaware type container with 4 snapper leads in the bottom to make it sink, the hole in the lid is about the size of your average drinking glass i get quite a few this way ..........i get the white eyes in the same area off a warf with one of those collapsable mesh fish traps just use stale bread for both of em.......so all bait is caught within 2minutes walk of where you fish ...........if you catch white eyes just keep them alive like the poddys but freshen the water in the bucket every ten minutes or theyll die even with an aerator hope this helps cheers steve
  3. gday btk ive been getting some good lizards and bream at picnic point just off to the left of the boat ramp at the entrance(just near the skate park) you dont really get much run in the water because of the state of the channel but ive fished both the run in and out with good success , ive been using live white eyes or small poddys and they seem to be the goods ...........also been getting some good lizards at the eny channel using the same baits but if you fish there use a float otherwise youll get snagged quiet a bit if you wanna know anything else give me a shout mate cheers steve
  4. gday all my names steve im 32 and live on the central coast i was born and bred here so ive been fishing tuggerah lakes ever since i can remember for blackies and lizards , i mainly go fishing with my old man and we can be mainly seen frolicking the north entrance channel after blackies or the entrance channel for lizards although most times our keeper bags are empty haha........also love flicking about soft plastics and hitting the rocks after drummer when i get the chance , i love living on the central coast but it saddens me how tuggerah lakes has gone down hill over the years with the entrance channel being shut on several ocassions and the forshore around long jetty and berkeley vale turning into a stinky mud pit .................anyway im unemployed and single at the moment (ladies if your interested you can pm me haha) so i have plenty of time to fish enough from me cheers steve
  5. hey mate ive never used chicken or meat for bait either but from what ive read use the chicken breast and steak is also suppose to be a decent bait, other alternative baits you could try are live poddy mullet, whitebait or whiteyes ,nippers, mullet fillets ect...hope this helps a bit cheers steve
  6. hey thanks for the reply guys , ive been using cunjie, peeled prawns and chicken gut for bait with the best results on prawns and cunjie , i have seen a few groper landed up there in the last week with a few huge drummer in the mix as well whatever they are i cant get em up (through no lack of trying) , i might get my self a heavier rod and reel and up the line to 30lbs or so and see how i go cheers steve
  7. gday ive been hitting norah head rocks after drummer the last couple of days and ive been hooking some beauties , but for the life of me i cant get the bloody things up , ive had about 6 good hookups so far and i havent landed one fish , yesterday i was up there hooked a good one and pulled as hard as i could trying to get this thing to surface my rod was at breaking point .......im using a 12 ft beach rod and shimano big egg beater reel with 15 pound mono line im guessing this is not the right gear for these huge fighters.........so my question is whats the best rod and reel for drummer and line i want to land one of these big suckers cheers steve
  8. hey guys and gals going to give blackies a go soon off the rocks and i cant remember how to put cabbage on the hook properly ......i use to be able to do it but its been that long its escaped the memory banks thanks in advance steve
  9. thanks mate i appreciate your help cheers steve
  10. great thread guys , ive been fishing for many years for blackies my old man use to take me along with him when i was a wee tacker back in the mid 80s and ive been hooked ever since im now 33 , we usually just hit the lakes during winter and if where lucky in summer too(bit hard to get good wire in summer though as the heat kills it off).i live on the central coast so my main fishing grounds for blackies are the entrance wall or north entrance channel those two places have been good to me over the years and have produced some great niggas .........also when i feel like a drive i head up to the hot water at lake munmorah power station although im a bit weary of eating any out of there.....anyway thought id poke my head in and say gday ps:great info roberta , very interesting read
