  1. Hey all, Mostly a lurker but have met a few of you at the last social (Botany). Sadly had to sell the boat due to finances!!! THis was the best little boat for Night fishing and family fun. online shop #140393393538 Anyway have reccomended the new owner to log in and check out the site! SO please welcome him and his lovely wife if he comes on! Anyway ..less fishing for me for now, but still keen for a fish for the Pirtek Challenge...if anyone has a spot for a deckie, let me know! Cheers, Greg
  2. G'day all, Just a quick report, (Not up to recent Botany Report standards) The aim was to spend a day on Botany with the & kids Got to the New Ramps (Forseshore Dr) at around 9am Those Ramps are tops! All in all, brought home 5 Bream to 34cm Unfortunately my wife lost a thumper at the boat (only partially hooked). Anyway have attached a pic of my Son (10yrs), with his catch. (Oh and please do not ask ....who the only family member that caught Zilch was) All the Best, HawkesburyMarlin
  3. Looking forward to it!, Some may bag the ole' Sambo, but they do put up a decent fight & watching them jump out of th water whilst reeling em in, is a great experience. Just make sure you blead 'em straight away, and cookem stuffed with heaps of flavoursome herbs/lemon/garlic. Awaiting the report...........
  4. Let's not forget.............The peeled prawn, rip it's head off and peel it down to it's tail - leave the tail on (Oldie but still works)
  5. I'm in! (not for a prostate exam............as a fella, I'll go to the doc only if crook) but for the Pirtek Challenge, BRING IT ON!! and I hope a Fishraider (hopefully me) , is up for a prize!! What is the definition of a 'Fishing Club' for the challenge? (Therefore enabling Fishraiders to participate in the club challenge) If a membership fee is a requirement, I am certain most partcipants would be willing to contribute a dollar or 10 to become a 'member' of Fishraider Fishing Club? Worth looking into? Greg
  6. Dang right there! I was praying there wasn't going to be any hail in that stuff! even without Hail ...that wet stuff was close to slicing eyeballs open! Byron, was clearly rewarded!!! Good on him & crew!! Greg (Think I'll go sign up as a deckie on his other thread now.............I Neeeed help!!!)
  7. Well Done on the great Catch! looks like you were well rewarded for puting up with the ugly weather. I was out at Juno, until the first Storm rains became visible on the water, with my 8yr old onboard I curltailed it back to under the F3 Bridge, nearly landing on the Mud banks on the way (due to near zero visibility). After the first storm passed I headed out to Flat Rock, then a drift for some Bread & Butter varieties. Expecting the Southerly (and my boat, not handling the chop very well), ended up back under the F3 Bridges until just after 1am.... caught a big fat ZILCH! Glad you guys did so well! .... and i so wish I had stayed out longer in the lower reaches!!
  8. I hit the Hawesbury again yesterday afternoon until around 1:30am. Nothing other than a small port Jackson Shark. I had hoped that the high tide at 11pm combined with the Southerly change would bring the fish on the chew, but was wrong. I note a massive absence of Hawkesbury reports in the 'Fishing Reports' Section, and it leaves me wondering 'when the Hawkesbury is going to fire again?' Greg
  9. G'day all, I got out this afternoon @ around 3pm, managed a couple of Octopus and a gummie shark at west head, followed by a just legal bream at Juno, plenty of choppy tailer around taking the bait. Came back to the ramp at around 10:30pm A great afternoon on the water.
  10. to add to my prior post, it has been mentioned on another thread that thursday night (yes NYE) might be the best bet in the Hawkesbury.
  11. My experience (Not that I have a lot), says it will be murkier than usual, am keen to get out myself, and will be keeping an eye on how you go! I'm thinking of heading out tomorrow afternoon into Wednesday morn .
  12. I think that would bring about another 'Minority' that would steal the money/vandalise the Boxes which would turn the whole exercise into loosing $$ rather than gaining money for cleanup.
  13. Slinky, I just hope it hasn't put the rest of the Hawkesbury's Fish population off the chew, I still havn't been game enough to have a decent bite to eat! foulest stench ever! TO calrify,it was really crap bait (pink/redish) when bought...looked liked it may have been the victim of a broken down freezer at the servo, and re-frozen ( I refused to use it, it was purchased in good faith by a couple of mates on saturday) .......hense why it remained in unopened bags. Too all fishing the Hakesbury this weekend.............I'm sorry! ....that stench tends to linger!
  14. Spur of the moment trip to the hawesbury, with a mate on Wednesday afternoon/evening. Headed straight out to the 'Pill-Boxes' at the entrance to Pittwater, Not knowing exactly what to expect through out a line with ganged hooks on a full Californian frozen Squid, along with asorted other baits. With high tide due in an hour, we managed to bring in 6 x 1M plus Port Jackson Sharks (the last 2 estimated 1.4m) 5 were mine and only 1 caught by Mr B. (not a great fish to catch.....but rates on our scoreboard) All went dead at the top of the tide, so headed back to Juno, to target Jew, though landed a Yacka (On a FUll Squid) ...Over abitious little bloke he was! ....Sent him back out for ZILCH It was at this point that we decided to empty the last of the Burley drum out, and in shock found some surprise sealed bags of Squid (Left over from the social, thanks to the Mrs).....let me say the bags were inflated, like a puffer fish! Realising they had to go, Mr B decided to cut one open and let the contents swim free, it was at that moment I heard some serious dry wreching from his side of the boat, which had me laughing my head off, my laughing continued until the rotten stench whacked me in the face, prompting me to alternate between laughing at Mr B, and Dry wreching myself. Once we calmed down, thoughts centered around the 2nd bag... and who was going to open it...........I'll spare you the details on that. After that it was eels & Catfish so headed home at about 11pm. All in all, was great to be reeling something heavy in!
  15. I'm happy to give specific spots, up my way, however don't think you will be able to get the 17' Tinnie up over Penrith Weir, or jump it over into Penrith Lakes. (naturally same applies to the houseboat) In seriousness The Brooklyn based Housebouts, prohibit you from taking it into Bass grounds on the main river. Though there may be a reachable spot from the tinnie via a smaller creek inlet that holds bass (if that exists, must say I havn't tried). BUt, why not target the species around where you will be based. Think Jewies, and at the speed Houseboats travel, keep a line out behind you, with enough weight to keep it near the bottom for Flatties. ENjoy your time out on the river! Greg PS ...Don't target Marlin in the Hawkesbury! SERIOUSLY!
