  1. Cheers lads. If anyone else had a good experience with a charter there I would love to check it out.
  2. Hey Raiders! It's been a while since I've been around these parts, unfortunately fishing has had to take the back seat recently. However, I've got a trip planned to go to NZ in July and was just wondering if you guys had any advice about charters or knowledge in general about fishing the east coast of the North Island. I'll be flying into Auckland and will have a few days to check out the North east coast, I don't have any plans set in concrete yet so i'm very open to Ideas! Any info would be greatly appreciated, Tight lines! Joel
  3. yeh just thumb the spool and you will have unlimited drag lol
  4. Thanks Heaps Tadpohle, that is some ridiculously good advice! I will take in what you said and hopefully catch a thing or two. Cheers, Joel
  5. Hey raiders, Hope the Chrissy period has been a safe and fun one for you all! The weather has been pretty unfortunate but it's good to see a few reports coming in here and there so big props to the raiders who have found the time to get out there! Anyway, Hopefully this weather will get better after the new year. As enjoyable as this rain may be, a mixture of rain and camping certainly isn't my cup of tea. From the 3rd of Jan me and some friends will be heading south into Booderee national Park to camp near Cave beach. I've done a search on the forum and google but haven't found any information on this beach in particular apart from one raider a few years ago who claimed that the rocks there are ok to fish off. Anyway If any raiders can provide any exp fishing from here that would be great. The plan of attack so far is pretty simple as I don't have much beach fishing experience. So i'm just going to look for gutters, or fish the corners near the rocks with lots of berley and any fresh bait I can find (Failing this frozen pilchards from the esky) Thanks for any help, happy new years!!! Joel
  6. Nope, it refers to a Slimy mackerel. Most people use them as live bait.
  7. I forgot to say before, we also got checked by the fisheries blokes in the harbour today. I think it was 6 on board, one driving, one up the front checking our fish and one in the window talking to us. 3 sitting down out the back
  8. You would think that by going to the effort of making a sticker they would at least make it accurate. Very silly, lucky you got off though, was a nice day to be out anyway.
  9. We ran into a school of tailor feeding last week and in one ten minute sesion they were caught on small metal slices of 7gm (which "matched the hatch" of the small baitfish they were feeding on. However they also took 5inch plastics, and interestingly enough a fairly big 7inch hardbody.
  10. If that was you guys we were on the north, only stayed for about 1.5-2 hours though.
  11. Great report mate, one of the best i've read! Sounds like a blast I would love to get up to the top end again one day.
  12. Hey groper, nice catch! Were you in the boat in your avatar? I think we may have been the guys just next to you we were in a 15ft yellow fibreglass boat. Anyway you did better than us! We didn't find the bream but certainly got onto the tailor. Was a beaut day to be out.
  13. Hahaha sorry to laugh at your misfortune but that was funny! I will be hitting the Harbour tomorrow, sounds like there is a bit of action, sounds good
  14. Good work Penguin, how was the bay fishing?
