Used to fish all the time, just getting back into it. Struggling to get on to some legal fish. Using 1-3kg rod., 8lb line, sinker swivel and 1/0 long shank usually. Fishing only off land. Using Hawkesbury prawn, tried fresh mullet and bottle squid. Only thing I catch stuff on is the prawns tried Swansea, found the water too quick. Wangi - great water, nice and deep, no fish. Stockton break wall. -Got two keeper flat head there that’s it happy for any hints and tips, locations or anything else cheers. need to find a spot, and any rigging info. thanks
Stopped off at Swansea on the way back from Newcastle for a quick fish on the wharf out front off the RSL....The guy at Tackle World Marks Point said that would be a decent spot and suggested mullet fillet for bait and he was spot on my mate got a decent Australian Salmon on light gear.
Hi Raiders ive recently found a good spot to catch poddy mullet in the Newcastle area. I've tried using them in a few different spots live baiting but have not been successful landing any fish using them. I've had one hook up to a big sting ray I couldn't pull in. I was wondering if anyone in the Newcastle/lakemac area knows a good land based spot where these baits would be very effective thanks in advance
Hello Raiders, Well i am out of hibernation and am ready to get the boat wet again. Tracking the weather all week and it looks like a real treat. Going to put the boat in at Swansea and head out through the heads, wanting to chase some nice big winter snapper. I have heard Catherine Hill Bay is a good spot and is quite reefy and holds good reds. Any suggestions, marks, honey holes etc would be great raiders. I havent fished this area much but at a guess i would say that moon island would be a good spot for livies, squid etc. if anyone can confirm that? I will be out on Sunday from 5am, any raiders see me out on the water come say hi.... I have a 5.5m savage lancer named Devil Ray Thanks in advance
