Crabing on Tuesday 12.Caught 6 blue swimmers.3boats in same area, They had a lot more pots out than me on my own. Not many crabs at all between us, had to work for them tried 3 different locals all the same. Where are all the crabs gone???.Couple years ago would pick up 10 crabs in a few hours. Read a story about lake prawns disappearing any thoughts. Prawns down crabs down or is it just a cycle.
With all this beautiful weather we have been blessed with recently, i couldn't help but go for a fish in the hacking, just after midday. Being my lazy self and having old frozen pilchards in the freezer, they were my bait of choice. Unfortunately with dozens of boats driving past i was unable to nab any squid (losing two yamashita jigs), whilst losing the only fish i hooked on the rocks which looked like a bream, forcing me to walk home with only two blue swimmer crabs. Recently purchased some crab traps and really wanting to gather some info on crabbing for blue swimmer crabs in botany bay before i head out. Im aware of the rules and regulations surrounding crabbing, Just want to find out if blue swimmers are ample all year round, what weather conditions are best, baiting how long i leave the traps out and locations on where abouts is best
Hi, Living on the south side of the harbour and was trying to get some tips on what the best bait is for blue swimmer crabs and where to go in the harbour. Was thinking of trying around the flats in Rose Bay and maybe even Vaucluse Bay. All help is much appreciated!! Sam
