  1. Hello everyone Time for another video, Nothing as great and fancy as my last video although this one really gets back to basics on how to catch livies, Slimeys and yakkas in particular. I know most of us know how to catch our bait but this is for those new to fishing or new to fishing in Botany Bay. Added bonus some kingy fun at the end including a bust off. As always all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read and watch
  2. How do I fish the Sydney harbor moorings specifically for kingfish? What will the typical live bait rig be looking like for kingfish? Should it be on a float or a light sinker, padernosta vertically or casted out, trying to get my first kingfish this holiday.
  3. Hey raiders just wondering on how to catch bloodworms or sandworms I’ve watched a few clips on YouTube but was wondering if anyone had a debrief on how to do it or had some tips for me on where to get started cheers
  4. Heading out on my kayak hopefully b4 the school holidays start, looking to target kingfish. Planning to have my kayak on the beach and ready around 4:45am while I'm on the wharf catching some lives. As for bait, will LIVE SQUID AND YAKKAS outfish CUBE PILLIES? I was looking into slowtrolling the baits around mooring edges and casting a few deeper into the moorings aswell, as for trace will the usual mulloway rig from the tackle shop work or will you need fluerocarbon? How will the sinker be placed or is there any sinker at all? I was going with this, 20lb braid to 30lb fluero double smelled setup with a small bean sinker sliding above the 2 hooks. ( sinkers would probably vary from a pea size sinker to a 2 ounce pebble)
  5. Hi guys just thought I'd share this trick I tried for live baiting with a spin reel. One of the most annoying challenges with this is having no bait running ability other than loosening your drag. This leads to the struggle of accurately and quickly resetting your drag once you have a fish on. Also if you reel gets wet while this loose it allows water into the reel easier. What I've done is popped a thick elastic band onto the lower (non-line) part of my spool. Once your bait is out where you want it you hold a small loop of line in your hand and tuck it under the elastic band (bail arm open). This holds the line pretty well but lets it slide out when its pulled with and pressure. I've been using Yellowtail scad (Yakka), some quite big, under a float. This set up and its been working a treat, a 35cm hood squid can disengage the line (ate my livie, squid spike in the next one out and i ate him...). If you're using bigger livies I figure an extra thick rubber band or 2-3 normal ones gives you better line hold. Just a random trick I came up with and thought someone on here may be able to use. Cheers, Pat
  6. Hey just a trick I've discovered and been using, Rubber band on the lower part your spool (not on the line) then once your bait is out far enough put a small loop of line under the rubber band (leave bail arm open) and it will hold your bait but allow a fish to pull it free. Bigger/more rubber bands hold more... one red thick rubber band is working for yakkas under floats (LB) Just a nifty easy trick that i thought some of you might find useful. Cheers, Pat
  7. Hey guys, going out on my boat tomorrow (25/10/14) to middle harbour to catch some live bait in the morning 6am. head out past the spit around 7am to catch the high tide and chase kingies or snapper. would love someone to join me .
  8. Iam Happy to say there are heaps of Jewfish in the deeper holes around the mouth of the Hawkesbury using live squid and yakka's with the odd bream upto 45cm.
  9. Evening all, planning a trip for a week out of Moruya in Jan 2014 I'll have my sons with me and I'd like to try and put them on to some kings, stripeys, something thats got some go to open their eyes. At 15 and 13 theyre old enough and keen as. I've waited till they were old enough to appreciate a good fight out side with something decent, We always bottom bounced, but I've got a fair selection of jet heads, deep divers, made a great teaser,,,,,basically all the gear and no idea. Plenty of time as a kid out of Narooma around Montague for stripeys etc prior to the Parks. Id be happy to find a reef, anchor up and cube and try for a good snapper for them but kings are my holy grail. I've heard a fair bit about kings of Moruya and I want to get my boys hooked on fishing out side. Can any one help me with suggestions, marks or tee up a day mid Jan 2014 where we could follow in our boat to watch and learn. We own a 95" 5mtr Seafarer V-Sea with a 115 Johno, 80ltr tank and sub tank so should be able to keep up. Any help / suggestions really appreciated. Thanks Dean
