  1. Good evening and Merry Christmas to all, Last few weeks I have been smashing the Williams River off Clarence Town, around 50 minutes north of Newcastle. The upper reaches of the Williams has always produced good bass or 'Wild' bass as what the new age anglers call them. To me they are all 'Wild' impoundment or not....Rant over lol. Anyway I have taken the 'bass hole' up the river a couple of times to suss out some spots and study the structure. Average depths I found were about 4 meters but has shallower sections. Due to the wind factor I put it on the troll and we pulled in 8 and dropped a couple. As always my stories are accompanied by a video for proof may be some minor language please excuse me. Below there is one embedded. Check it out and I hope you guys can get up there. JA
  2. Used to fish all the time, just getting back into it. Struggling to get on to some legal fish. Using 1-3kg rod., 8lb line, sinker swivel and 1/0 long shank usually. Fishing only off land. Using Hawkesbury prawn, tried fresh mullet and bottle squid. Only thing I catch stuff on is the prawns tried Swansea, found the water too quick. Wangi - great water, nice and deep, no fish. Stockton break wall. -Got two keeper flat head there that’s it happy for any hints and tips, locations or anything else cheers. need to find a spot, and any rigging info. thanks
  3. Well the fishing just keeps hotting up. Up north there are small blacks, stripes and blue marlin as well as some big summer dolphinfish. Reef Magic will be chartering out of Newcastle from the 5th of January. Newcastle gives us a great variation in places to fish. Norah Head to the south, Newcastle Canyons straight out and The Car Park to the north as well as all the in close grounds. You can get the train from Central to Newcastle for $5.95 which stops right near the boat. Get a group together and get aboard to fish some of the best available water on the east coast. 4. Hi Raiders It's been a long time between posts but I finally got out for 2 fishing sessions this week. Just thought I'd share the result as I know most of us are looking forward to the warmer months especially on the beaches. Headed out armed with a bag of pilchards and some frozen worms both times and was greeted by plenty of hungry bream! The action was a plenty from the first cast, the best results coming in the last hour of the run in tide then all went quiet. A couple of smallish whiting however the bream were all in between 28cm - 42cm. On the second trip I threw plenty under around 30cm back. Only kept the large amounts due to my friends and family asking constantly haha. Great fun though Cheers, James
  5. Hi Raiders ive recently found a good spot to catch poddy mullet in the Newcastle area. I've tried using them in a few different spots live baiting but have not been successful landing any fish using them. I've had one hook up to a big sting ray I couldn't pull in. I was wondering if anyone in the Newcastle/lakemac area knows a good land based spot where these baits would be very effective thanks in advance
