Hey everyone, I'm going to sunshine in Lake Macquarie. I was wondering if anybody knows some good spots for bream, flathead or whiting around there and how to fish them (I'm only going as a once of so I won't take your favourite spot ?). I was also wondering how you guys would go about fishing a jetty/ wharf for bream, I am pretty new to fishing, however, from what I've gathered a running sinker down to a size 1 octopus hook with a bit of servo prawn on it would do ok if not the same caliber as some live poddy mullet suspended under a float, etc. Please put any advice about bread and butter species in this chat and if you feel like it share your PB bream.

Hey guys, I went to The Entrance the other day with my family to prawn and while prawning, we saw this jellyfish. We searched it up at home after we came back and found out it was Morbakka (I think it is morbakka. It had a small box body with four long tenticles), a type of Irukandji. Is it common to see this species of jellyfish there? in the estuary? Are they dangerous? I asked one of the fishers up there and he said its not dangerous but the way he said it kind of makes me think he didn't know as well.

So while we have known for quite a few years now that white spot disease in imported raw prawns is a risk to our waterways and prawn industry alike, once again the government has waited until the horse has disappeared into the sunset before strolling over to consider the idea of closing the gate. For those that don't know, some prawns from overseas carry a disease called white spot that somehow can still be transferred in a dead, raw, frozen prawn. When the infected prawn is put into a river or waterway the white spot disease can be released into the water and the local prawns can become infected. This is not recent news and it has been common knowledge amongst people who care that you shouldn't use the cheap imported green prawns for bait as this can be one way it could be introduced to a waterway or river system. Please see the link for the news article. http://www.9news.com.au/national/2017/01/06/11/53/import-ban-on-green-prawns

Hi everyone, a newbie here. My grandfather used to rave about prawns caught in Rose Bay in Sydney. I have tried numerous times but have always been unsuccessful. Are there any tips or pointers to ensure I don't come up empty handed yet again? For example, am I standing still or moving around? How far into the water should I walk? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Callum
