    Japanese tackle websites

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has bought any rods and/or reels from Japan, they seem to be a fair bit cheaper over there even with shipping fees to what you would pay in Australia but I’m not sure what websites to trust and what not to and was wondering if anyone could recommend some websites

    Weipa Lures Advice

OK raiders. I need your collective knowledge to stock up before a trip to Weipa next month. We’ll be doing all sorts of fishing from boats... rivers, reefs and out wider. Lots of casting around pylons and under bridges and markers etc. I need to stock up on lures for the trip. And especially good value lures (that work) since I expect we’ll be losing a fair few. I know plastics are a good option due to their value, but I know next to nothing about plastics... no idea what brand, type, jig size etc.. Any experts that can point me in the right direction? I’m experienced in metals, hardbodies and poppers but does anyone know what works best in Weipa? And what sizes? I’ll be taking 3 spinning combos... 80lb, 50lb and 20lb. Thanks team!
  4. Hi Raiders, Wondering if anyone knows of local shops they would recommend? In the age of internet it's still a bit tough to find ones that aren't a major chain.

    Fishing in Shellharbour

I am starting to fish again around the Shellharbour region. I was wondering if anyone knew any good spots for larger fish and what sort of tackle I would need ( lures/bait ). I am willing to anywhere in the Shellharbour region. So if anyone has any ideas on where to go and what to bring that would be highly appreciated.
  7. Hi, i need some help. Bait is quite expensive these days and sometimes it is too hard to pump for yabbies. So I was wondering if anyone knew a selection of lures that are good for catching flatheads to bonito ( really anything big enough for eating or that is fun to catch ). if someone that could just give me like their top ten lure selections that would help immensely.
  8. Hi all I was hoping to get some help from you guys. Just wondering if I am doing something wrong as the title implies in regards to beach fishing. Yesterday afternoon (12/1/17) I went to narrabeen beach planning to fish the high tide at 9.30pm. 2hrs either side of the tide. I picked my spot which had a nice gutter about 20mtrs from shore. I set my gear up which is a 15 foot nitro Frankenstein rod with 20lbs braid and 20lbs leader on a shimano Sedona fe 4000 Bait of choice was chicken marinated in garlic and soy sauce (coles) and I had tuna pellets as berley. Fished from 7.30pm-10.30pm with out a bite. There were a few other guys fishing there too, but didn't look like they were catching either. Just want to know if i am doing something wrong? Fufu
  9. Hi all, We are two very keen fisherman who have been trying for the past six months but believe it or not, all we caught in those 6 months was an undersized bream and a toadfish. We know we are doing something wrong but can't pinpoint it, as we have tried different places: Botany bay boat ramp, Beach next to the runway near the Sydney airport, Patonga and we even hired a tinny at the Cooks River and left without a nibble. We tried different bait: squid, prawn, glow worms, regular worms, live crab and soft plastics, and we don't even get a nibble most of the time. We also tried different hooks and sinkers. Are we just really unlucky or are we doing something wrong or going to the wrong places? If so does anyone have any tips on what to do to increase our chances or do have any better spots than the ones listed above around Sydney?

    No fishing today

Due to the wife being on the sick list , I stayed at home to look after her. Well that was the idea,, I made her a cuppa then went to the boat done some cleaning up and rearranged some things , made up some new terminal tackle , gave the boat a wash and greased the trailer. Just got to love looking after the wife.

    Accessories & Tackle advice

Hey everyone! My Girl Friend got me a $200 BCF Voucher (God bless her soul ) I'll be fishing around Darling Point with family on Saturday night. I usually don't fish that far out (Considering i'm from West) I usually go to Clarke's Point / Drummoyne. With this voucher, i'll be purchasing A proper Live Bait Bucket for my Yabbies New Tackle Box 14lb Mono line What else can i grab? Something that may be handy at Darling Point. Not too sure what gets caught from there, what size fish it produces etc. What hook sizes are good, and can anyone offer some advice on that area? I still want a kingfish! Haha but probably a low chance at that depth & time Any advice at all would be appreciated

    Need a new setup!

Gday guys, After catching a few bonito and salmon on bream gear I've decided to upsize to a larger reel and a longer rod. I'm targeting bonito, salmon, tailor, rat kings and other topwater fish, with lures. I fish landbased in sydney harbour as well as from the headlands around sydney. I have a budget of $400, any ideas on the rods and reels I should be looking at? Thanks in advance! Cheers Nick
  14. Hi everyone, I am new to this forum but have been an ardent recreational fisherman for a long time. Although I have fished & caught many species my favourite is still bream!! Nobody can deny the feeling of catching a Jewie or Kingy or any other type of game fish for that matter, but there's still something special about bream.. I purchased a pfleuger trion rod about a year ago from BCF and attached a Shimano Symetre 2500 reel. I absolutely loved the feel and the strength of the rod. I have used it with both plastics & live bait (prawns, yabbies & worms) and have had great success with it. I recently ordered two more (for the price of one) from a US tackle shop. I now have 5 in total. They are all 2-4kg rods IM-8 graphite some are 2 piece and some are 1 piece. I was wondering if anybody else uses pfleuger and what your thoughts were? If not, what is your preferred gear for bream?
