0 Davemmm Posted May 31, 2007 Author Share Posted May 31, 2007 Certainly not a flounder. The pic is taken with the fish on it's side. It's shape is kind of (in a rough sort of way) like a flatty. If you look at the bottom fin it runs right along the bottom whereas the cod have those single fins underneath. The Frogfish certainly looks close but this one didnt have the beard that the eastern frogfish has. Given that this one was only about 12cm long maybe it was a juvenile. It did have a wide mouth like the pics of frogfish I can find and the colouration is similar. I will just have to go back to Lilli Pilli and get another one. Dave After further consultation where no expense was spared I'm led to believe that the tassels around the mouth wont be obvious out of the water, they stick to the skin. so me-thinks its Ol "Batrachomoeus dubius" B.F.
