Mr Dalucius
We have a Savage Ranger 4.8 and wanted to mount a MinnKota electric motor for freshwater fishing. Everyone we talked to said we would have to cut the bow rail. Well that wasn't going to happen so I came up with this little invention. If anyone wants to ask me anything about the mounting feel free to pm me or place a post.
Davemmm
Nice job Geoff. Looks like the work of an electrician with too much time on his hands Dave
roosterman
looks good geoff.. whats that old saying "necessity is the mother of all inventions" is that spacer setup gonna handle the weight and torque but im sure you tested this..... i used the ol el cheapo plastic chopping board as mounts/backing plates for my downriggers and it was easy to do.. i was looking at how you could use the anchor as in pics looks like the mk would be in the way.... anyway well done on doing it yourself as the satisfaction of your own works lots better and add that all said cut rail a big .. cheers... steve.... Mr Dalucius
Nice job Geoff. Looks like the work of an electrician with too much time on his hands Dave Thank's Dave, there were a few proto types before the final product, made of ply wood. Very time consuming. How are the electrics going on the poly? geoff.
Mr Dalucius
very nice but can you still access the bow roller and use the anchor effectively? Thanks crazedfisherdude I only use the electric motor for trolling or casting lures so other than those times I remove it. I leave the mounting plate in position and I can still use the anchor and bow roller without a problem. Geoff

davebrewer
That's great Geoff-I've been putting off installing an electric for the same reason on my Coxcraft.Could you give a bit of info on the dimensions and the material sizes-I can't work out how the stainless posts are secured to the hull. Many thanks, Dave
arpie
Well done, Geoff!! Terrific setup that works for you & your boat without having to take a hacksaw to the rails. Very professional looking too! Did you get any fish at Lake Lyell using it?? Roberta
