Penguin
Are you sure it didn't take a peeled prawn?! Cheers, Grant. Im thinking of giving that one a try too Grant, Problem is though, if I hook up no one is likely to believe me. That's a fantastic capture mate! What a ripper of a fish! Did you keep the trail going once hoooked up , or pack in the rest of the rods? Andrew Hi Andrew, We kept the cube trail going for the entire fight just in case the bft got away on us, we could drop our lines back into an unbroken trail. The other rods were wound back in at the beginning of the fight so as to not cause any tangles or crossed lines.
Penguin
We just ate some bbq Bluefin Tuna steaks, I give them 10/10. Yellowfin Tuna steaks dont even come close to these. The meat was like juicy T-bone steaks but without the bone. Absolutely fab. The gray/brown steaks are the bft, and the white fillets are the Gemfish. plankton
Beautiful fish, I would love cooking and eating it as much as fighting it. I bet the sushumi is superb! If the fat in the flesh was easily visible, this fish was probably prepared for, & upon migration from the Tasman to the tropics. Larger populations of SBT migrate north through the Indian Ocean, hence why the species are not commonly encounted off Sydney.
