A bottom feeder name

When fishing in Syd harbor at night time, more than one occasion I caught a fish about 3" long, pure black, large bead-like eyes and has frills on its body looks like lettuce leaf. Didn't take any photos. It was such an ugly thing that I think if someone caught it before will know what i am talking about. It had fat belly (like flathead) so i think it's a bottom feeder. Any idea?

Both Tasselsnout and Fringe-eye Flathead look like Flathead, weird but Flathead never the less.
