how do you retrieve your popper ?

Was wondering what retrieves you do with your popper and for what fish ? I just started using poppers and trying to go for bream or whiting but had no luck

Hey mate fishing bream whiting and flathead on poppers is very very hard to do n the winter.

Wait until the weather warms up and they will start to come on especially the whiting

As adawg said - hang on a bit for the warmer weather (water temp up). If you are after bream or whiting look around for some likely flats where you can quietly wade in and cast. If you are new to this, get up early and be on the flats as the sun comes up (or sets)to increase your chances (incoming tide can be good too). There is a bit to the technique so look at leader types and practice walking the dog retrieve as well as your popper retrieve. The bream dont mind a few pauses in the retrieve and the whiting are happy to go a lure thats on the move.
