I'll be there. This is too important to let O'Farrell do nothing.

Good on the folk at Cronulla Fisheries for fighting for what they believe in - accountable government and sustainable fisheries. It will be interesting to see whether the Shooters & Fishers show their faces, or continue to remain silent.

Cronulla closure on hold!

++++++++++++++++++++

St George and Sutherland Shire Leader has just reported:

Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner has ordered the Cronulla Fisheries closure be put on hold while the government considers and formally responds to the upper house committee report recommending that it be saved.

Inquiry chairman, the Reverend Fred Nile, told a rally of about 200 staff and supporters outside Parliament House today that Premier O’Farrell had agreed to meet a staff delegation.

Mr Nile said he had spoken to Mr O’Farrell about the report findings.

The Premier had told him to speak to Mr Stoner but had agreed to meet the delegation.

Mr Nile said that while he was in Mr Stoner’s office, the deputy premier had given an order to bureaucrats to stop further action while the report was being considered.

Government officials had been ignoring the report’s findings, dismantling the centre, disconnecting phones and moving staff, Mr Nile said.

He said the government had three months to respond to the report.
