Tail ropes.

I have now watched several You Tube films of fisherman trying to tail rope big fish including YFT and Mako's.

They all appear to have great trouble getting the tail rope over their catch to secure it.

I had the same problems when I was into game fishing and ended up making a tail rope that had a short section of chain in the rope. That causes the loop to sink more readily and helps to open up the loop so that it becomes easier to slip the loop over the fish's tail.

It worked well.
