Baby Karlos
Finally headed out yesterday after long run of bad weather. Went straight to 12 Mile and immediately upon arriving a big 1m fin broke the surface 20m in front of the boat. Was plenty of bait from 50-100m showing up on the sounder and a number of larger fish underneath and on the sides. After no luck trolling 12 mile for an hour we jigged and caught a few slimmy Mack's (obviously what the fins were feeding on). Changed up the lure colours we were trolling with to those that had the closest colouring with a slimmy mack and continued to the south. Shortly after bang double hook-up - two good sized tuna. Unfortunately the 2 crew by this stage were asleep so by the time they got out on deck the short corner was tangled in the teasers and the shotgun was tangled with the long rigger - ultimately dropped both - soul destroying. Untangled all the gear and continued to the south and within 10mins bang short corner went off - wasn't anywhere as big as the other two but was a nice 5kg striped tuna. Continued to work the area for a couple of hours after that for zeros and then called it quits mid afternoon. Didn't get a chance to drop the slimmys on a reef of the way back - ran out of time - but would have been dynamite for kingies Edited December 2, 2013 by Baby Karlos

your fired
Bad luck on the lost fish champ, by the way it's trolling not trawling (unless your dragging nets behind the boat) and your Bonito has morphed into a Striped Tuna! Cheers better luck next time.
winki
Good on ya for going out but I dont know why your crew were sleeping?? You should tell them to stay at home in bed if they want to sleep.. I stand up all day for more than 12hrs in a centre console, always on the lookout for a free swimmer, birds, bait etc..loosing good fish due to lazyness is not bad luck..and it is a stripey not a bonito- Your fired! Baby Karlos
Headed out to 12 Mile again yesterday to jig for some Kingies early in the morning. Drove around the area for an hour but found nothing of substance on the finder so continued on to the Shelf and put the spread out. Trolled from mid morning to early afternoon around the Shelf and Browns Mountain for zeros so started to head back to Sydney. We were roughly halfway between Browns Mountain and 12 Mile when finally the short corner went off. Kept the boat in drive as the boys pulled in the teasers and bang the shotgun then went off – double hook-up for the second trip in a row. Landed two nice sized striped tunas making up for our poor effort a couple of weeks ago. Sounded like a quiet day for most on the radio with no bait around and only one striped marlin caught by Ylwfin late in the morning east of Browns – well done lads. Hopefully the wind isn’t too bad this week so we can get out there again this weekend.
