Paikea Posted March 26, 2014 Share Posted March 26, 2014 The worst impact of the refineries oil spills is the dispersant that they spray over the spill to sink it. At least that is what they used to do. Not sure if they are still allowed to do so but I know from personal experience that previous spills treated with dispersant killed of large areas of sea grass and killed off the Mussels growing on the piles etc They will likely have floating containment booms around the spill which should show you what areas to avoid.
