Port Hacking- A couple of interesting fish

Krispy !

Question

Before i get started just letting you all know that this isn't a fishing report but more of a sight seeing report. After uni today headed down to the hacking with a loaf of bread started throwing some into the water to see how many different types of fish i could spot. Almost immediately there was over a hundred blackfish infront of me gorging themselves on the bread, i noticed a fish swimming amongst them that looked a bit different so i took some photos as best i could. Now that i had a better look im pretty sure that its a zebra fish although i might be wrong.

This little fella seems to be quite a long way from home as i have never seen them in the hacking before.

Another fish took my notice amongst the bread however this time i couldn't identify it. It looks like it belongs in the great barrier reef. Took some happy snaps of it too see if any raiders could help me identify this lil fella

In the clear waters of the Port over the years, I have seen some fish I could not identify. They looked close to certain species, but not quite right.

Blackfish will sometimes attack bread floating on the surface, have hooked the occasional one with the biggest near 40cms, and they usually fight hard. Sometimes beat the bream to the surface to grab the bread.

One of the strangest fish I caught some years ago were Pineapple fish in South West Arm, also called Port and Starboard fish.

Port defiantly comes up with some unexpected fish in it.

Over the years ive seen Yellowfin (not bream) tune.

Caught a cobia last year

Massive seal snoring at my mates pontoon. Funny as hell. It lifted its head out of the water while upside down then blow bubbles on the exhale.

Reef sharks.

Hammer head.

Massive cuttlefish.

Love the port, nice an clean water.

Report in The Telegraph fishing section that some yellowfin tuna to 12kg were recently caught in South West Arm. Saw a photo of one caught a couple of years ago, weighed 26kg.

A few fishos that know about it target them, but not with the bream gear, they have the heavier gear and live baits.

Would be pretty difficult to target since I suspect it's a random thing but would be an awesome catch inside that's for sure.

My new pet in the Hacking

ahahahaha that's awesome!
