Njmpm
Hi guys, Haven't posted a lot here but thought I would update for anyone that's interested. I am sick of taking my boat out and coming back to the wash bay/motor flush area always being out of order. I contacted council who never replied. I then contacted fisheries who put me in contact with Sydney Ports. Long story short here is the reply from the maintenance manager Mr Peter Reed, "Nick. I will chase our maintenance people and get a reply to you in the morning. I know we had some issues with damage to one of the underground tanks but will need to check where the repair is up to. Guest Aussie007
i thought the water supply was turned off for good? we pulled in their some months ago and seen the handle to the tap removed
Njmpm
Yeah both taps had been removed. Just really pi$$es me off, I live in Hillsdale and in a unit so don't really want to go back and start up the motor (noisy 2 stroke) in amongst everyone. It was awesome when it was working. I think I only got to use it a half a dozen times before it was out of order! Now we know who to contact every time something goes wrong down there at least. Njmpm
Ok update from Peter Reed, "Nick. Just been speaking with our maintenance staff and the current plan is to fix this tank on the next suitable tide - 11th June. Some problems with tank design and repair have meant that our contractor has taken a significant amount of time to come up with options for our review. We are now confident that the option being put in place will give SPC a longer term solution. Many thanks for the note and your patience in this matter. Peter Reed General Manager - Asset Management" So looks like it might be fixed very soon! Let's hope so
col35
The "guards" there always complained to everyone about taking to long etc etc. It got to the point where on busy days there was always guards there telling people off. I was always under the impression they closed it down themselves just to stop it.
Njmpm
Well now we know who we can complain to if the "guards" get too in your face. I'm sure their job isn't to badger people using the facilities. You would expect though that on busy days with queues forming people would have the courtesy to be as quick as they can. That's also the reason I like going during the week!

Some people do, others bring out a bucket of soapy water and spend 40 minutes washing everything down. Thanks for chasing this up though! Njmpm
I must admit I wash my boat while the motor is getting a flush and with two of us it takes less than 10mins all up. It definitely would have been nice if they had thought a bit more about that part of the boat ramp and installed a duel lane facility whereby you could fit four boats instead of just the two. Just can't wait for it to be finally fixed! Lol

But I had one guy who started to hand wash his boat (and it was a big boat) AFTER he had finished flushing the motor. Do you know what other ramps have wash facilities? Grays point is the only one I know that works, the one at GRNP is also broken.... Sent from my XT1033 using Tapatalk

Juggs
you do realise your washing your boats and flushing your engines with recycled water.its not from the mains but surface run off from the parking site and wash down bayyour flushing your engine with what is effectively salt water, as the filtration system wasnt the best in the world or maintained that well. its not there to wash your boat, just for a quick flush of the engine and giving the brakes a squirt of fresh water before heading home. I didn't realise that this area isn't there for a quick wash of your boat! Is this the same rule for all boat ramps with wash facilities? Just wondering Juggs where did you find that info on the water being basically salt water because the filtration system is garbage? Wouldn't mind asking Sydney Ports about it. Juggs
i saw it being builtcollects water from the wash down bay and carpark so collects road waste, diesel soot and saltwater let from boats buckets livebait tanks amd whats wind blown onto the site. so unless its regularly emptied and topped up with town water you will have a build up of salt and other nasties as bad as washing your boat in one of those car wash places do a bit of googling fair bit of info on it
Njmpm
Another update for those interested. Seems like it has been repaired. "Peter Wagner pumped out the leaking tank patched the hole and replaced the pump and three taps that were stolen, the outboard flushing system is now operational. The water smells a bit but rain over the weekend should flush the tanks. Regards"
