I figure its about time I filled this one in.

My name is Colin and i'm 31. I'm currently living in launceston tasmania, though I grew up in sydney. I moved down here a few years ago to study and kinda got stuck here. I'm married to the beautiful Tracey, no kids yet but thats gonna change in a few months. I'm currently finishing off a PhD in Marine Biology (Squid - particularly vision, thesis submitted last week) and consequently looking for work though I'm also working in the local casino to pay the bills. I've been fishing since very young and now mainly chase trout on lures (and occasionally fly) as they are the closest available option, usually I fish small streams or from my kayak in the larger rivers and lakes. I do a fair bit of lighter estuary, rock and beach stuff too but this is mainly in the closed trout season or on camping trips.

Cheers

Hi Raiders,

My name is Keith, nickname Kenny (long story). I am VERY nearly 40 and have rediscovered fishing through my 5 year old son (PJ), who is keen as, which is great.

I used to fish heaps as a kid, particularly for Luderick. It's great that I now have a reason to get involved again (not that anyone needs a reason to go fishing). The :wife: is into horses, so whilst she and daughter Samatha (1 today) :1happybday: do the horse thing, PJ and I fish.

We have a Bayliner 2050 bowrider with a 5 litre V8 sterndrive.

Now before you all go boo, , , we use it for fishing/skiing and cruising, and it really is a good all round boat. Had a Whittley Monterey before that, and a Camero ski boat before that, so I've had a few different types of boat. I just love getting out on the water!

My most meritorious catch to date is a tuna of somewhere over the 40kg mark, caught with good mate of Raiders in Ross Hunter (legend!) See the bit under "Three Hour Epic" at this site.

http://www.gamefishingcharters.com.au/Game...s_Sept_Oct.html

(P.S. Despite help from fellow raiders, I still can't abbreviate links properly. :1badmood::1badmood::1badmood: Keep getting message that I need to enter a URL, even when I paste & highlight them. Any more help would be greatly appreciated!!???).

Nowadays, PJ and I mainly fish the smooth bits of the Hawkesbury (he gets seasick easily). Keep an eye out for us. It's the only V8 bowrider I know of with a bait board on the back! :074: The boat rego is suspiciously similar to my username too (go figure).

I'm yet to post here and I've been on these forums for a bit now...

Umm, name's David, just call me Dave of course  Anyway, used to just fish the georges river, mostly up around chipping norton, never had too much luck especially cause I was younger and didn't know much of what to do and so forth. Lately I've ventured out to Tom Ugly's bridge, then tried even more recently the Hacking. I do the odd fishing here and there in places such as The Entrance or down south if I'm out there with parents. I'm 18 years old, don't have a car yet and I'm learning a lot thanks to fishraider and from personal experience. The site has been helping me a lot and just want to say thanks to all the members for being so friendly and welcoming while I've been here the past few months, all your help is much appreciated, hopefully I can pass it all on to others as I get older too :):1fishing1:

My names Derek (Deek) I'm 44,

I'm married with 2 kids, Jessica, she's 14 & Glenn, he's 12. I work in records management (not the music type). I live in the Blue Mountains (Springwood). I've been married for 18 years and I'm still working on the :wife: to go fishing.

Before I was married I was a member of the Erina Leagues Social Fishing Club. My Pb is a 4.8kg Drummer ( i held the club record in 1989), a 3.3kg kingy and a 1.5kg Chinaman Leatherjacket. I own a grey 4.55 polycraft frontrunner with a maroon canopy. I like to fish Central Coast (have a mate that lives on the water at Woy Woy), Botany Bay and South Coast. I'd love to get out more often. I would really like to know how to fish with SPs. Come and say G'Day if you happen to see me.

Cheers

Hi All - My name is Marg and I'm pushing 40 next year (2008) and plan to either rent a houseboat or a house on the Hawkesbury for the week of my birthday and can't wait (what's age anyway!). :1happybday:

I've been fishing/boating since I was very young thanks to my parents having a love for the water. We started off with a bright yellow tinnie, then a runabout and then my Dad got into restoring timber cabin cruisers :yahoo: YIPPEE :biggrin2: which meant we spent every weekend on the Hawkesbury from Friday night until Sunday night. My parents were members of Ku-ring-gai Motor Yacht Club for years and our boats where moored there. They had many boating friends who would tie up next to us for the weekend mostly in Yeoman's or Smith Creeks and they drank excessively (before the days of RBT) - I truly don't know how we survived the trip home to Normanhurst every Sunday night. Anyway whilst they drank and fished we caught pretty much all that the Hawkesbury had to offer, which was fantastic back then - I don't think we ever went home without a decent catch. :1fishing1:

Unfortunately my Mum past away from cancer when I was 17 and Dad just couldn't enjoy the water without her so he sold our last and wonderful boat called Tookooya - send me a PM if you ever see a halverson looking boat with that name as I'd love to see what it's like now.

My wonderful hubby (Steve) who I've been with since I was 17 share a love for the great outdoors, camping, 4WD and fishing. We have 3 gorgeous boys - Nick (1995), Ben (1997) and Riley (1999). We accidently discovered via Ebay and purchased a Stejcraft Bowrider on the last day of school last year and haven't looked back. Prior to that we did a lot of beach fishing mainly from Hawks Nest and/or occasionally rented a tinnie. I must comment that hubby isn't as patient as me with regards to fishing and these days seems to untangle the boys lines more than anything, however, they are also getting better at managing their own fishing demands. I've always encouraged them to put their own bait on as practice makes perfect.

My latest claim to fame and reason for joining FR was a 55cm jewie, as I had to tell someone about it. Love this site - well done to the administrators/owners. I only joined in January 2007 but have met so many wonderful people and really look forward to attending the Entrance Social at the end of April - only a few more sleeps to go.

I wasn't going to make this a long post but as usual got carried away. I have a very addictive personality, meaning that when I love something I'm completely passionate about it and become full on - such as fishing, photography and posting on FR.

I constantly feel immortal so try to live life to the max and I'm very into spontaneity - just ask fellow Raiders Mr & Mrs Stumpy about that.

Cheers Marg

Hi everyone,

Well my name is Chris and I been fishin' all my life. All 25 years of my life I've been fishing Lake Macquarie and to this day still love our precious lake although I spend most my time fishing elkele;';'le creek for bream from the snags and spinning the sand/mud flats around speers point for flatties. Matter of fact I scored 2 flatties yesterday in a nice gutter just up the creek. 1st measured 64cm and the 2nd 47cm. Not bad in anyone's books :P I look forward to being involved in some great fishing tales with you all. Now enough chat, lets go fishing :1fishing1:

edit - looks like my edit stuffed the censor up again :P

Hey all,

The names Robert, Im currently living in Wolli Creek have been for a yr and a half now, was previously a westie (fairfield area). 25yrs of age, and as all here a big fishing fan, though I keep my fishing to landbase (until I get the boat :P ).

Been doing a bit lately since I have a bit of time on my hands, Im currently being treated for Hodgkins disease (cancer) and have started fishing again on my good weeks between treatments (every 2nd week), just to keep my spirit high and mind of things :). Good news is that the treatment is working, bad news I'll be back to work in a few months :(, but until then its a time for :1fishing1::)

Other then that Im a big sporting fan, with My league, F1 and cricket at the top of the list, Im also a bit of an aviation nut, so I dont mine fishing the cooks breakwall and watching the acft at the same time, I couldnt ask for more :)

Not married but have been with my girl for to long so I know what this :wife: can be about :)

Hey Flukey

:1welcomeani: to Fishraider!

Great to hear your treatment is going well - if anything will give your spirits a lift, wetting a line will do it! If you are ever up Mid North Coast way (ie Forster) give me a yell - would love to wet a line with you! :1prop:

Cheers

Roberta

PS Just attended my first Social last weekend & it was fabulous! Would recommend attending one to everyone! The fact that the next one is in my 'back yard' of Forster has nothing to do with my recommending it!! :biggrin2:

Hello raiders. Love this site.

Anyways, I have a small tinnie, can be seen on lake Mq. feeding the fish with my soul mate, the missus aka chook, and sometimes the tin lids. My name is Rod and look forward to hooking up (pardon the pun) with you good people. Make that, had a small tinnie, now have a slightly bigger tinnie and I am still feeding the fish from it.

Hi all,my name is Stephen. I have been a fishraider member for a few years, but have been absent on the forum(and from fishing) for a while for several reasons.

I am 32 yrs old and live in macquarie fields.I have 3 kids(1 boy and 2 girls).Myself and my partner are very heavily involved with our local soocer club.We are both on the committee, while my partner and my son both play.My son is also involved with our district rep side. This takes up a great deal of my time and OF COURSE most weekends.

When i do get to get out for a fish, the majority of the the time it is with my father in law.We mostly fish botany bay/georges river, but occasionally fish in port hacking.I am still trying to master the art of succesfully fishing soft plastics,as so far i have been a bit hit and miss.

I am also on the verge of buying my first boat, and am currently looking for something that satisfys what im after.I have a few to look at through the week and fingers crossed i find the right one.

I think its going to take me a few days to read through some of the posts,so i can find out what has been going on.I look forward to posting some reports and catching up with fellow fisherman/woman.

Hey all,

My name is Gareth, im 19 years old and have recently joined the fishraider forums to access the wide range of fishing information available, and to learn as much as I can about the fishing scene in my local area. (Brisbane Waters, Central Coast NSW). I have enjoyed fishing from an early age, but it was mostly on and off as it depended on when the old man was keen for a fish. My mate and i bought a 77 model fibreglass runabout for $1500 as a bit of a joke a year or so ago, and we both got our boat licences and fishing licences and got out on the water, having an awesome time along the way. The boat had a 1977 25hp evinrude, which despite its age was very reliable. I learnt heaps about boats and outboards from this first boat, which we sold not long ago due to it practically sinking in Glenbawn dam at the beginning of the year. We gave this boat an absolute caning, and have some awesome stories from it as well. The highlights would have to be losing the prop in a storm in brisbane waters, and breaking off the windscreen by running into a wharf. This boat got me hooked on the whole boating scene, and i was keen to get a better one when I had the chance. A few months ago I bought a Stessl Sportsman 415 Runabout, with a Honda 4 stroke and all the goodies. I now fish every weekend with a good mate of mine, and have recently been giving Sp's a go with much success. I look forward to meeting some other raiders at social events in the future. I have just read the posts about the entrance social, if only I knew that it was on I would have been there straight away! Thanks guys, keep up the good work, there is so much to be learnt from other people on this site.

Hi all,

I thought it was about time I introduced myself as I have been hanging around this site for some time now but with little to post due to not a lot of chances to get out and fish.

My name is Brett and I have recently turned 40, married (2 years) with no kids (yet). We live at Rouse Hill and haven’t had a lot of chances to get out and wet a line this year but am hoping for that to change soon.

I must credit my wife for getting me into fishing a couple of years ago as she grew up with her dad fishing down Tuross way and how could I say no to a woman who was happy to clean the fish that I caught.

She really wants to learn about catching blackfish (can’t make the social weekend unfortunately) as her dad fished for these so guess what she got for her last birthday, a blackfish reel  . How romantic am I. :P

Anyway, I am learning heaps from this site and looking forward to meeting more raiders at workshops etc.
