Brendan_G
Any of you fellow raiders got any good recipes for flathead?
kiwicraig
I tried this tonight and it was really fresh and tasty. Quick and simple as well - so really ticked all the boxes. Flathead with Cherry Tomato Sauce
GreyNurse
Lightly grilled fillets on the pan with a nice, home made Greek or garden salad (with lotsa avocado). The flavour of the fillets don't need enhancing. Such a tasty fish au natural.A good, healthy meal, summer or winter.
Crossfire63
^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Agreed. Why muck around with such a good fish. Pity everyone else found out how good flathead are which has just driven the prices and demand through the roof. I can remember when they were when they were $5.00 each whole, not $25.00 a kilo
amkr
Might be a bit of heresy but here's how I did the last flatty I ate. Dip it in plain yoghurt, roll it in a mix of breadcrumbs and parmesan and lightly fry in oil.
Guest Guest123456789
It's such tasty fish simple is better. You need to get more creative and add more spice etc with less tasty fish.
bisso
fillet the flatty, crack an egg in a bowl, dip the fillet in the egg, get a plastic bag and add some plain flour and 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder, add large spoonful of butter in a fry pan and cook on each side until golden brown. NB: the curry powder gives it the golden brown colour with little curry flavour. its a recipe from NT and it works a treat. even the fussiest kids will love it...
