big Neil
Not long to go before the Murray Cod season opens on the Murrumbidgee. In the meantime the target species are Carp and Yellowbelly. Went down the river this morning and got a few shrimps in the net. The weather was shifting from very bright sunlight to being overcast and I had to search around for where the fish were located. Lost a fair bit of tackle in that exercise but managed to find them and for an hour they were taking the shrimps. Managed 4 and kept 2, of around 48cms, for a feed. Cheers, Neil
Cargo05
Another good report Neil. There is nothing like being on the water early in the morning for the start of cod opening is there? Less than 40 sleeps to go!!!!!
adamski
Good work Neil. I've never eaten freshwater species from Australia before. Are the yellowbellies any good?

Cargo05
Yep, the closer the day approaches the more time spent playing with the tackle box, sorting lures, checking trebles, replacing leaders, checking drags, cleaning out the boat etc. etc. LOL. Great to be alive (and fishing) isn’t it?

big Neil
Yep Gianni, yellas are pretty good eating. Been out early this morning for a few hours and the yellas weren't there. Caught a Silver Perch and had a decent battle with a Carp of about 10lb...was hoping it was a nice yellowbelly. Good fun anyway. Back to the grindstone! ROLL ON DEC 1st...hoping to do a lot more lure and spinnerbait fishing this Summer. Neil.
