9am start with 2 other Raiders on-board. Nice conditions, we hi-sped NE then put the whole spread out just inside the Bait Station. Quite a few boats around the BS, didn’t look like anyone was getting anything and the water didn’t look too good around there either. Looking at the charts, alt, temp and currents looked best about 15-20NM NE from the Bait Station so we started trolling our way there.

We found the good water almost exactly I thought it would be, blue, lots of temp breaks, nice current running. We paced that area from that time onwards hoping something would show up. 1 hr later we hooked a Bull Dolphin Fish around 20kg, I thought it was a marlin at first we could barely get the rod out of the holder and its first run a was absolute screamer on a really heavy set drag. Unfortunately we lost it at the boat, you can blame my shoddy gaffing for losing it, I had about 3 shots at it :)

About hour and half later we got a double hit on dollies, one stuck and we managed to get one on-board this time, 10-12kg female. It took a sardine lure chain with pilchards in the stinger. The 2 other hook-ups were on a 10” pink lure and a 10" blue lure both had pillies inside them. The Dolphin Fish’s guts were full of tiny fish, I would be running a couple of really small lures in your spread if you’re planning to head out this week.

Nice ride back, all downwind in the north easterly.

Good luck to anyone heading out.

Peter

Hi Peter,

Do you have any footage of your lure chains in action. I've only ever used spreaders as teasers so interested in seeing whether the action on your teaser is a better option. Any reason you haven't produced a spreader bar product?

i just find the chains really easy to use vs a spreader bar, just load the stinger lure with some bait and that's pretty much it, very easy to run anywhere in the spread. I have also been clipping on reflective fish in front of all the lures and lure chains. I do have some footage somewhere of the chains, but i can't find it right now. One day I will sort out all the videos I have :), but i did find these screen dumps of the chains in action.

The chain will also dig in deeper than the spreader bar.
