New to fly fishing - Port Hacking

Hi all,

I'm just getting into fly fishing and live in Cronulla. Was planning on going out this Friday - any good land-based areas around the Hacking?

Was thinking of trying the sand flats around Maianbar or even the Basin. Based on what I've read, looks like flatties might be good to target first around there.

Any advice or good places for a beginner to start?

The flats in Gunnamatta bay hold a lot of whiting which would be a perfect target but get crowded if you cant get there during school hours.

That's the ones but way too crowded once school finishes or weekends.

I might be able to swing Friday morning! I'm not working till the arvo. Hmmm, just checked the tides, it's high in the morning. I usually like to fish the last of the run out, first of the run in.

Let me know what your plans are closer to Friday and I'll see how I'm going then.
