Mike89
Anyone know what kind this is? I pulled this in tonight and thought a gummy at first but the colouration and body shape are slightly different. While I'm at it, here's another I caught a little while back. Bad photo for ID but maybe someone can help? Was toothy with some gnarly open wounds. Both released! Cheers guys! 0 tojo007
Top one is definitely a blind shark. http://australianmuseum.net.au/blind-shark-brachaelurus-waddi-bloch-schneider-1801
0 SquidMarks
We have a common name for a dog shark..... 'chuck up shark' Not sure if you have experienced this, but when you pull them out they usually start retching and spew out bait in an effort to dislodge themselves from the hook. 0 Mike89
A small whaler? Nice! The dog shark didn't chuck anything up but I'll keep that in mind for next time. Cheers guys! Edited April 9, 2016 by Mike89
0 Mike89
Is the dog shark one of these? Just trying to find it in the shark and ray guide.. Thanks!
0 Blackfish
Can't possibly ID the Whaler but I wouldn't be surprised if its a small Bull Shark, (Carcharhinus leucas) with the shape of its head. Carcharhinus leucas
0 Mike89
A blind shark then, cheers. What about this one? I thought it was the same as the one last night but looking at the picture it seems to be a bit different with a bulkier head and no spotted pattern.
