Raiders,

You have to try this - it's incredible.

Ingredients:

Fish fillets. I used flathead tails and bream fillets (skin on but scaled).

Small packet salt and vinegar chips ground up in bag (smaller chip pieces the better).

Flour

2 beaten eggs

Method:

Roll fish fillet in flour, then egg wash them place in chip bag and shake around. Shallow fry until cooked. That's it.

Commonly called "Bogan Batter".

Works well on Aussie Salmon as well. I wouldn't be buggering up flathead with it

Try it old man, you'd be surprised it's very tasty.

We have had a lot of fish in the house lately....well as usual  We tried the below with Snapper

Day one. Cornflakes crushed up. Not bad Not bad, but not as good as Bread Crumbs

Day two. Crushed up Salt and Vinegar chips. All round thumbs down. Even the kids were not impressed, We used Smiths Salt and Vinegar. A lot of the flavour disappears

Day three. Plain bread crumbs. Very very good. All agreed that from now on we will not mess with a good thing.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out well. That's cooking though, experimentation.

Tried this for Saturday night's dinner and will do it again.

we tried it with whiting fillets we had, added some salt and lightly peppered.

happy to hear you liked it, keen to catch some whiting now you're making me hungry.
