warnie100 Posted May 29, 2016 Share Posted May 29, 2016 hello guys hope someone can help i have a Johnson 120 vro probably around1987 I havnt had it long and I have a problem starting it I have changed the battery as it was crook turned the key nothing checked all visable wiring all looks ok so I have crossed a wire either side of the solenoid and it turned crossed a wire from starter to solenoid and starter works and will start but nothing from the key it has a lanyard kill switch fitted to the box ideas please regrads wayne Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Fab1 Posted May 29, 2016 Share Posted May 29, 2016 Hi mate,have you checked the fuses,relay under the cowl?Also make sure to wiggle the shifter on the control box back and forth because there,s a neutral safety switch in there that can go bad or stick preventing you from starting her. There's plenty of reasons why nothing happens when you turn the key.If those things fail to work you need a test light/multimeter to determine if your getting power to the switch and back to the starter.Loose/corroded connections,broken wires,too much resistance in the circuit,corroded/broken safety switch,poor grounds etc will all stop you in your tracks.
